Political Director
The North Carolina Senate Democratic Caucus (NCSDC) is looking for a Political Director to join its senior staff as we work to elect Democrats to the State Senate in 2018. The Political Director will report to the caucus Executive Director and work closely with candidates, managers, caucus staff, and members.
Responsibilities include:
- Work with caucus staff and campaign team to develop and implement highly-tailored campaign plans for each district
- Field:
o Create individual field plans for each district
o Work with and engage partner groups
o VAN management and administration
o Training on volunteer recruitment, persuasion scripts, candidate motivation
o Work with campaigns to implement field program
- Finance:
o Help candidates develop finance plan
o Work with campaign managers and candidates on call time
o Work with incumbent legislators as needed
o Work with caucus finance staff as needed
- Strategy:
o Connect Leadership and caucus members with candidates and campaigns
o Analyze need and availability of campaign resources in each district
o Coordinate with caucus staff, campaigns, and consultants on messaging
- Campaign Management and Tracking:
o Recruit and train qualified campaign managers
o Develop campaign benchmarks and goals
o Work with campaigns to track field and fundraising progress to goal
o Produce reports on campaign progress for executive director and leadership team
o Serve as point of contact on assigned campaigns
Skills /Experience needed:
· Excellent planning and time management skills
· Excellent oral and written communication skills
· Ability to work nights and weekends
· Access to a car and available to drive for work
· Experience working on state legislative campaigns or other campaigns before, ideally in a campaign management position
· Ability to think outside the box
· Ability to work as a team
Compensation is commensurate with experience and includes health and dental insurance.
