The office of Virginia Delegate Sam Rasoul seeks an entry level Legislative Assistant. This individual will work to pursue the office mission of helping & empowering people in the Eleventh District and beyond.
Duties and Desired Skills
Our office takes an integrated approach to job duties and responsibilities. First and foremost, we seek someone who is in alignment with our mission of helping people. We feel it is important to mention all of the major spheres present in the work that we do, as overlap will certainly exist. General skills we are looking for include excellent communication, relationship building, project management,and research abilities.
Political Outreach and Organizing
- Compile and utilize volunteers
- Track and attend events around the district
- Connect with various constituent groups (e.g. veterans, college students, educators, seniors)
- Narrative development
Community Impact Projects
- Serve as liaison between our office and local organizations or agencies
- Oversee projects to completion or hand-off
- Generate ideas for new projects to solve local problems
Communications
- Social media
- Track local and state news
- Correspondence
- Town hall and other events
Legislative Strategy
- Constituent relations & follow-up communications
- Developing talking points
- Coalition building with organizations, agencies, other elected officials
- Legislative process knowledge
Fundraising and Development
- Donor management
- Event planning and execution
- Call time, letter and online campaigns
- Meeting fundraising goals
- Knowledge of NGP/VAN software
