314 Action

314 Action is a new organization dedicated to scientific advocacy as well as recruiting, training and electing candidates with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) backgrounds to all levels of public office. 314 Action has recently been featured by many news outlets including the Atlantic, the Washington Post and CNN. 314 Action was referred to as the "EMILYs List for scientists" by Roll Call. We have raised over $3.5 million this cycle to date and our candidates are leading the charge to take back the House and Senate in November.

 

314 Action, seeks a Development Assistant to manage our President's development calltime and assist with our high dollar development operation. The ideal candidate be a fresh college graduate or will have some fundraising or other experience on a campaign or with another political organization. We are looking for an outside the box thinker who will thrive in a startup environment with minimal bureaucratic hurdles. The Development Associate will report to the Development Director and will work with other members of our development team, as well as directly with our President and senior staff.


Responsibilities

·       Manage our President and senior staff calltime

·       Manage correspondence between President and major donors

·       Staff President at meetings and fundraisers

·       Continually update and correct database records

·       Conduct preliminary research on prospective donors

·       Prepare materials for distribution. (i.e. copying, filing, mailing, e-mailing)

·       Assemble donor/monthly sustainer pamphlets for new donors

·       Identify prospects and outline cultivation and solicitation tactics

·       Build and manage relationships with current and prospective donors and funders

·       Directly solicit mid range gifts

·       Manage interns

·       Other duties as assigned by the Director of Development

 

Qualifications

·       Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

·       Excellent verbal and written communication skills

·       Willingness to work in a fast-paced atmosphere

·       Excellent organizational and time management skills

·       Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment

·       Ability to manage several tasks/projects at the same time

·       Flexibility and the ability to capitalize on opportunities that present themselves in fundraising

·       An entrepreneurial spirit

·       Ability to work well in a collaborative team environment

·       Hard working and highly organized
