Director of Business Development
Empower Engine is a small political technology firm. We aim to make data more accessible and approachable to our users, and we focus on map-based data visualization tools. We know that a picture is worth a thousand words; since we organize geographically, that picture should be a map. We are proudly partisan and consider ourselves to be the mapping toolset for the Democrats and their allies on the political left.
Empower Engine is an all-remote company. This job will be a combination of sales, marketing, and communications. As with any company of its size, employees should be ready to take on a wide variety of challenges. The ideal candidate will be in Washington DC, but applicants elsewhere in the US will be considered if their existing network is large enough.
Absolute Requirements
Minimum two previous jobs in the campaign/advocacy space in different locations (4+ such jobs preferred)
Willingness to travel
Skills and Experience We're Looking For - Please apply if you have at least half of these
Demonstrated interest in Democratic political campaigns
Experience coming up with and executing plans for raising the profile of a candidate, organization or cause
Pre-existing network in some segment of the progressive community
Social media knowledge
Field organizing experience
Background in creating one-pagers or other marketing materials
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Proficiency with Google Docs
Experience with HubSpot or similar CRMs
Familiarity with video-editing software
Interest in learning new skills and new technology
Sales experience
Comfortable using video calls for demos and for team meetings
Independent worker
Excitement about being part of a small team and taking on new challenges
Former campaign managers, party or progressive advocacy organization staff, caucus directors, etc. are encouraged to apply
Salary
Pay will be a combination of base salary, sales commissions, and revenue sharing. If the hire is successful, they could earn partial ownership in a few years.
Base Salary: $40-60k
Expected Annual Take-home: $75-135k
