Position: Deputy National Press Secretary and African American Media Advisor

About the DCCC:
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) is the official national Democratic campaign committee charged with electing Democrats to the U. S. House of Representatives. The DCCC recruits Democratic candidates and supports Democratic campaigns – both challengers and Democratic incumbent Members – with a variety of services including field operations, fundraising support, communications assistance, research support and management consulting. In addition, the DCCC's Independent Expenditure supports these campaigns with television, radio and other voter contact efforts. The DCCC is supported by the contributions of individuals and organizations, along with Democratic Members, from throughout the country. We look for talented and hardworking campaign professionals who are committed to fortifying and expanding our new Democratic House majority.
Position Summary:
The DCCC is currently seeking an experienced, strategic communicator to be a Deputy National Press Secretary and African American Media Advisor for the 2020 election cycle. This position is responsible for handling the Committee's national and local African American media, managing those relationships, identifying surrogate opportunities, and assisting the DCCC's Regional Press Secretaries to build press plans involving local African American media in targeted Congressional districts across the country. In addition, the Deputy will provide support to our National Press Secretary on national media needs. This position reports to the Communications Director and Deputy Communications Director. The Deputy Press Secretary is expected to help campaigns develop and implement aggressive media strategies, prepare surrogates and leadership for interviews, write press releases and prepare talking points. Other duties include monitoring media coverage and providing support to the Communications department. To apply, please submit a cover letter, resume, two brief writing samples, and two references.

Requirements
Demonstrated excellent communications skills, campaign or Capitol Hill experience, the ability to work quickly in a fast-paced environment while balancing competing priorities, and sharp political instincts. Strong candidates will have existing relationships with African American media.
