Position Summary:

The Director, Experience is a key leader on LEE's Communications (Comms) team, developing innovative communications solutions, working across teams and building capacity to implement LEE's branding and messaging plan across internal and external channels. The director will be a digital innovator who can lead through influence, and guide staff, members and stakeholders in implementing dynamic communication strategies that build brand awareness, engage members and stakeholders with LEE.

Position Location: Location flexible. Washington, DC preferred.

Travel Requirements: Up to 40%

Responsibilities:

Leading Implementation of LEE's brand development plan (30%)

  • Lead the development, planning and execution of plans and strategies for positioning LEE's brand and building awareness of member values among members and external stakeholders

Developing & implementing digital storytelling strategies (30%)

  • Lead the implementation of a comprehensive LEE storytelling strategy across owned and external channels, developing digital, print and experimental media engagement plans, speaking opportunities and engagement with external stakeholders.
  • Manage the manager, digital storytelling in implementing a comprehensive storytelling through the development of audio and video products (podcasts, videos, social channel content)

Vision and implement digital campaigns (30%)

  • Lead communication efforts (online campaigns and stakeholder engagement plans) for the member-facing leadership initiative, developing communication strategies to build supporters/stakeholders for programs and platforms.

Build best practices across teams (10%)

  • Consult across the comms team digital practice group, developing and sharing best practices and aligning strategies across LEE's online strategies, and member- and stakeholder- facing digital initiatives.​​
 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years leading digital communications strategies
  • Strong insights and interest in digital communications and storytelling at scale
  • A background in education, politics and advocacy required 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong experience in organizational brand development/issues management
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate within a geographically dispersed team
  • Strong, demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity & inclusion
  • Deep passion for educational equity and belief in LEE's mission and theory of change

Salary for this position is competitive and depends on prior experience. In addition, a comprehensive benefits package is included.
