Position Summary:

This position is on the Regional Impact (RI) team at LEE. The RI team is comprised of field staff all over the country responsible for the development and coaching of members across multiple pathways - including policy, advocacy, community organizing and elected leadership.

The Director, Program and Organizing reports to the Director, Impact in the region. They will be responsible for the successful execution of community organizing and leadership development of LEE members toward collective action in the region, while also supporting the region in various programming initiatives (i.e. regional trainings, member coaching, etc.).

The Director plays an important role in the region with the primary focus being developing strong relationships with and among LEE members and leading those members through the stages of the organizing cycle to drive meaningful impact for kids.

Position Location: Bay Area, CA

 Travel Requirements: 30% including some travel around the region and travel to team meetings and national workshops

Responsibilities:

Lead LEE's collective action work in the region (75%):

  • Develop a strong foundation for LEE's collective action work in the region by coaching and training members in the region through LEE's relational organizing cycle to public action
  • Identify, support, develop and train member and community leaders in the region to lead the collective action work through one-one-one coaching and group trainings
  • Plan and execute effective actions to achieve wins with meaningful impact for kids and to build the Regional Strategy Team's (RST) power, setting up the RST to take on and win on progressively impactful issues
  • Successfully execute regional organizing events
  • Strategically set vision to achieve goals; accurately track data to ensure progress towards ambitious goals

Additional regional responsibilities, as determined with Director of Impact (25%):

  • Support cultivation of LEE membership in region through meetings, connecting members with online and in-person resources, and coaching to promote civic engagement
  • Support event execution across all programs in region, including the design and facilitation of regional programming
  • Additional special projects and supports to ensure regional success of programming and member cultivation
 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ years professional experience
  • 2+ years organizing experience, either as a volunteer or professional organizer
  • Deep alignment with LEE's mission
  • Highly effective communication, facilitation, coaching and relationship building skills
  • Experience applying a lens of diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Ability to accurately track metrics and progress to goals efficiently and effectively
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends
  • Access to reliable transportation. Position requires travel to meetings with members on a regular basis. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with LEE's model of community organizing
  • Experience working with LEE members
  • Sophisticated knowledge of political and education landscape in the region
