Summary
American Progress has an immediate opening for a Director for Women's Health and Rights with the Women's Initiative. The Director will lead all efforts on policy development and research and analysis as well as rapid response and communications efforts on women's health and rights for American Progress. The ideal candidate will be passionate about reproductive justice and ensuring health care access for low-income women, women of color, young women, and other groups of women who are too often excluded from the mainstream narrative because of factors such as race, ethnicity, gender identity, age, or disability.
The Women's Initiative works in an interdisciplinary way to advance policies on a range of health issues that affect women and families. We work to advance policies that provide people with the ability to become a parent and parent with dignity; to determine whether, when, and with whom to have children; to have a healthy pregnancy; and to have safe and healthy families and relationships. Specifically, this work includes protecting abortion rights and access to affordable contraception, eliminating racial disparities in maternal health, defending the Affordable Care Act and Medicaid program, and developing progressive ideas on a range of women's health policy issues.
