JOB ANNOUNCEMENT: ORGANIZING DIRECTOR
Chris Abele for Milwaukee County Executive is looking for a highly qualified and motivated individual for our open Organizing Director position. As the current County Executive and a progressive leader, Chris Abele seeks to empower grassroots organizing in Milwaukee County and support the existing organizing that is taking place within our community.
Position Summary: The Organizing Director will identify supporters, recruit volunteers, and utilize our campaign network to advance the goals of the campaign, as well as support local progressive organizing. The Organizing Director will report directly to the Political Director and be responsible for recruiting and managing a team of volunteers to aid the campaign. The position is based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and will run through December 31st, 2019, with an option to continue through April of 2020. Responsibilities for this role may include but are not limited to:
Job Responsibilities:
· Recruit, train, and manage campaign volunteers and interns
· Participate in one-on-one meetings with potential supporters and volunteers
· Maintain regular communications with supporters and volunteers
· Develop and grow relationships with community leaders
· Door-to-door canvassing shifts
Qualifications:
· Applicants must have strong communication and personal skills
· Be self-motivating and work independently
· Be able to work long hours, including on weekends
· Live in or willingness to relocate to Milwaukee County
· Knowledge of votebuilder and other relevant campaign software preferred but not necessary to apply
· At least one cycle of field or organizing work with a past political or issue campaign required. Additional campaign experience preferred.
