Frustrated by the current political environment? Help be part of the solution. Organize at the local level. Municipal government plays an important role in our civic lives — who we elect to county commissioner, township supervisor, borough council, school board director, etc. matters a great deal to the quality of residents' lives.
UCDC is committed to supporting Dr. Jenn Rager-Kay in the August 20th Special Election, Union County Democratic candidates in the November 2019 elections, and growing its organizational capacity for the 2020 elections. The Organizer will support the work of Union County Democratic Committee (UCDC) ant its committees on Elections, Fundraising, Events, and Communications to grow the organization.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Organize UCDC members' effort to reach out to voters, e.g. canvass their voting districts
-Organize and produce voter outreach events
-Work with the Elections, Fundraising, Events, and Communications committees to complete emergent needs
-Recruit new leaders and lead them up the 'ladder of engagement'
-Recruit volunteers
-Identify potential new committee members
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
-Commitment to Democratic Party values
-Strong interest in community engagement, preferably with demonstrated engagement
-Well developed oral and written communication skills
-Strong collaboration skills
-Good leadership potential
-Willingness to learn new skills and to work with others in a team environment.
-Self-Starter
-Ability to work independently
Women, persons of color, members of the LGBTQ community, and other traditionally disadvantaged groups are strongly encouraged to apply.
The Organizer will be paid $15/hour and will be expected to work 6-10 hours/week through the November election. Position to begin as soon as possible. Rolling application deadline.
