2020 MDLCC Field Director Position Description
The Montana Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (MDLCC), the wing of the Montana Democratic Party that works to elect Democrats to the Montana State Legislature, would like to announce an opening for the position of MDLCC Field Director. The MDLCC Field Director works closely with Caucus and State Party leadership and its allies in formulating and executing the Caucus field plan for the 2020 cycle.

POSITION TITLE: MDLCC Field Director
REPORTING TO: MDLCC Director
LOCATION: Helena, MT (non-negotiable, with possible relocation to another city for Sept-Nov of 2020)
The MDLCC Field Director's duties include:
● Writing, executing and overseeing the 2020 Field Plan within the context of the overarching 2020 MDLCC Campaign Plan and budget;
● Hiring, training and managing entire field staff and their potential canvassers, interns, and volunteers;
● Coordinating with vendors and consultants for campaign services;
● Helping train candidates and campaign staff, including coordination of regular mass candidate trainings;
● Coordinating diverse legislative candidate field operations, including direct candidate assistance with campaign plan creation, fundraising, communication, data, and ongoing strategic guidance;
● Collaborating with MDP Data Director to manage legislative campaign and staff accounts;
● Taking part in ongoing communication and development of research and communication materials for use with state legislators, other democratic groups, and the public as requested;
● Completing other day-to-day political operations of the MDLCC, as needed.
Preferred qualifications for applicants seeking to be MDLCC Field Director:
This position requires a strong background in legislative campaign management, communications, field, and fundraising.
● At least two cycles of campaign field experience, preferably legislative experience;
● Strong working knowledge and experience with the VAN voter database and computer-based tracking tools;
● Ability to work independently, with a direct supervisor who is often in other areas of the state;
● Highly organized with a keen attention to detail;
● Willingness to work long and irregular hours needed to meet campaign demands;
● Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously, take direction, and work well and creatively under tight deadlines, in a team environment;
● Ability to navigate multiple sets of expectations and needs by setting priorities and communicating clearly;
● Strong analytical and critical thinking skills;
● Reliable transportation;
● Knowledge of and experience with the Montana political landscape preferred but not required.
● Absolute commitment to MDLCC through the 2020 election (or beyond).
