Jaime Harrison for U.S. Senate Communications Fellow
The Jaime Harrison for U.S. Senate campaign, a 2020 highly competitive U.S. Senate race, is seeking an energized, motivated communications fellow to join a fast-moving communications team for the fall of 2019.
As a Communications Fellow, you will work closely with the Communications Director as we share the incredible story of how we're going to rebuild South Carolina into a state that works better for all of us. You'll draft a wide range of communications materials, and you'll be out on the trail with our people-powered campaign.
The Fall 2019 program will take place in Columbia, S.C. and Fellows are expected to work 25-30 hours a week, with some weekends and irregular hours expected. Fellows will receive a monthly stipend of $500 and will gain political communications experience and build contacts with media outlets.
Job Duties Include:
· Assist in writing and editing communications products, including talking points, media campaign plans, press releases, media advisories, opinion editorials, blog posts and more.
· Perform media monitoring and rapid response using a variety of tools and online resources to track daily relevant press coverage of relevant issues as well as the local and national media landscape.
· Curate pitch letters and/or email pitch memos to engage local and national reporters.
· Work side-by-side with the Research department to develop and maintain reporter contacts for the organization.
· Support the campaign's day-to-day communications operations.
