Job Description
The Florida New Americans (FNA), an initiative of The Florida Immigrant Coalition (FLIC), is a naturalization program that started January of 2012. The Citizenship Coordinator will oversee the FNA program, work with funders, do extensive outreach to those who have language barriers, financial barriers to naturalization and/or those who are from underserved immigrant communities.
Responsibilities
Programmatic:
Conduct outreach to community based organizations identified by FLIC and or in partnership with mutual partners, to eligible legal permanent residents and potential legal partners, in preparation for citizenship clinics.
Host information sessions in various communities identified by FLIC.
Coordinate the planning of citizenship clinics, including, but not limited to:
Scheduling of the citizenship workshops
Venue identification
Coordination of all operational aspects of the citizenship clinic
Oversee the clients follow up and address clients complaints
Process Citizenship applications when necessary
Partnership Building and Volunteers Management:
Serve as liaison between FLIC and its partners with weekly phone call or face to face meeting as needed.
Build relationship with, and develop awareness and commitment of community leaders and diverse stakeholders to support naturalization efforts
Engage the partners in info session and workshops/clinics
Support volunteers recruitment and training
Program Reporting:
Insure tracking and monitoring of data
Prepare and submit monthly or quarterly reports as indicated in the contracts
Program Communications:
Work closely with Communications and IT support to ensure:
Events flyers are created and scheduled in a timely manner for dissemination
Events are posted in the calendar (FLIC's; FNA website, social media ….)
Ongoing update and management of the FNA social media pages
Provide contents information and feedback on marketing materials related to FNA
Ensure FNA website contents are updated current/future FLIC's, Partners Orgs and USCIS on a regular basis
SuSupervision and Administrative tasks:
Schedule and maintain bi-weekly team meeting
Provide program update during staff call or face to face meeting
Provide training of new program staff and volunteers as needed
Participate on bi-weekly or monthly national partner organizations call and training
Oversee the maintenance of FNA marketing and workshops/clinics materials
Ensure management and safety of clients' files
Supervise citizenship navigators/volunteers
Ability and flexibility to travel locally, statewide and nationally
Qualifications:
Paralegal on Immigration with a minimum of two years' professional experience
Project management experience with demonstrated ability to solve problems, meet tight deadlines, manage resources effectively, work in teams and with people of diverse backgrounds
Attention to detail, strong writing ability, excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work at a fast pace while managing project requests is required.
Passion for social, racial, gender, worker justice and Florida politics preferred.
Experience and personal interest in managing social media: Facebook Twitter, Instagram
Experience in database management, helpful but not required (Salsa Labs/Salesforce)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Dropbox, and Google Docs required; Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop are a plus
Must have their own vehicle and be willing to drive long distances
Must work flexible schedule and be able to travel local, statewide and nationally.
Must be bilingual in English and Spanish or Creole
Great customer service, ability to multitask and handle stressful situations
Self-starter, take initiative.
