Civic Advisors Civic Engagement Internships
Overview
Civic Advisors, a Washington DC based social impact strategy and consulting firm, supports organizations such as Michelle Obama's When We All Vote, the United State of Women, It's On Us, the Creative Alliance, the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge and more. Interns will get hands-on experience and exposure to critical skills and tools needed for careers in advocacy, elections and public policy.
There are currently four internship positions available in the following focus areas: Digital, Communications, Mobilization, and Special Projects. Applications for Winter and Spring will be accepted on a rolling basis until December 1, 2019. Applications received after this date will be considered for the Summer or Fall 2020 program.

Position Description
Interns will support staff members on various projects by performing a variety of administrative duties. Projects range from assisting staff with research, project/campaign support, proposal and memo writing, and other various tasks. Interns will work hand-sin-hand with their supervisor and respective teams to provide support as the business and/or organization strengthens and grows.
Preferred skills and experience for these roles include:
Experience collaborating across an organization and with external partners to develop and implement successful, mission-focused content.
Excellent analytical, writing, and communication skills.
Ability to take initiative constructively and professionally.
An open-minded approach to operating within a dynamic organization.
Ability to work with diverse communities and individuals with varying perspectives.
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and stay organized.
Interns will have opportunities to learn from and be mentored by senior staff, meet regularly for brown bag lunches, and receive access to trainings and events held by partner organizations.
This is a three-month internship experience for 20-35 hours per week. The positions are compensated and based in our office in Washington, DC.
Focus Areas
Communications: Includes assisting with content development for campaign materials such as press releases, toolkits, and emails, support for key campaign moments and rollout, monitoring relevant news and media on various topics, and assisting with logistics and volunteer outreach for events and conferences, and other duties as assigned. Interest and/or experience in digital and traditional communications, civic engagement, journalism, and popular culture are preferred.
Digital: Includes assisting in digital content creation for campaigns such as graphics and social media toolkits. For this position, interest and/or experience in digital programs and software, and experience with social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, IG), as well as with Adobe CC (Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro ) & Canva, are preferred.
Mobilization & Programs: Includes supporting development of campaigns and program strategy, toolkits, and materials for volunteers and partner organizations, and supporting volunteer management and training events.
Special Projects: Includes a wide range of projects including but not limited communications, digital, and mobilization and program portfolios described above as well as support on fundraising and organizational management.
