JOB DESCRIPTION

Fuse is hiring a Development & Events Coordinator to strengthen and grow our organization, and to support innovative campaigns aimed at engaging more people in our democracy and advancing progressive change in Washington. The Development & Events Coordinator is a critical position in our fundraising program that helps make our strategic organizing and communications campaigns possible.

 

The Development & Events Coordinator will serve as a key member of the organization's development team and work cooperatively to lead a series of fundraising and stewardship events aimed at increasing donor engagement with Fuse, growing individual contributions and sponsorships from fundraising events, and building a base of potential future supporters of Fuse. They will be a strategic partner in building out a more robust events program at Fuse, and will also support the broader development team through prospect research, qualifying prospective donors to Fuse, drafting marketing and donor-centered communications, and other responsibilities that support the team's effort. 

 

Applicants should be ambitious, innovative, results oriented, and interested in working in nonprofits, fundraising, politics and/or advocacy. The goal of this position is to strengthen and grow our programs to build a more progressive political and issue landscape in Washington state. The Development & Events Coordinator reports directly to the Deputy Director.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Lead the strategy development, planning, logistics, fundraising, marketing, and outreach for a series of fundraising and donor stewardship events across the state

·         Call Fuse donors and prospects to solicit donations, provide updates, and invite them to Fuse events

·         Support efforts to identify, research, and qualify prospective supporters, including researching and connecting with individuals, foundations, and business sponsors to understand their giving goals, strategies, and capacities

·         Assist in preparation of briefing materials and research for all fundraising-related meetings and events

·         Assist with writing and proofreading donor communications and proposals, and assist in the compilation of budget and supplemental materials for funding applications

·         Maintain database, tracking, and acknowledgement systems for individual donor and foundation fundraising

·         Keep informed on "best practices" in the fundraising field and recommend improvements for Fuse's development department

·         Support organizational development strategies, including advancing Fuse's racial equity goals

·         Provide additional support to the development team as needed or assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Work, volunteer, academic, and life experience are all acceptable

·         Successful event planning and project management experience

·         Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed goals consistently and execute effectively against a strategy

·         Experience soliciting donors by phone, email, or in-person

·         Strong writing and editing skills

·         Excellent listening and people skills

·         Experience building long-term relationships with donors, volunteers, or program officers

·         Experience managing a database or CRM

·         Availability to work evenings and weekends, as needed

·         Knowledge of c3 and c4 nonprofit entities a plus

·         Experience working on issue or electoral campaigns a plus

·         Driver's license and access to a car a plus

At Fuse, we are aware that fundraising and nonprofit resource development are designed to recognize individuals and institutions that benefit from inherited wealth and to reinforce power structures that perpetuate privilege. We want our new Development & Events Coordinator to think positively about resources, to connect donors to our work, and to help build sustainable fundraising models for Fuse. As such, the Development & Events Coordinator would need to be comfortable with philanthropy and fundraising, as well as be open and willing to creating and shifting fundraising norms and practices that align with our values of social justice, inclusion, and equity and the goals outlined in our organizational racial equity plan.

 

SALARY AND BENEFITS

Salary is $45,000-$52,000, depending on experience. We provide excellent benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage, retirement package with a 3% employer match, ORCA transit pass, generous vacation time, and a flexible work environment with opportunities for professional development. Fuse has a strong team environment with great coworkers and a vibrant organizational culture.
