Position Summary:

The Manager, Blended Learning will aide the Director, Discern, with developing tools that engage members through digital organizing mechanisms. These systems include developing online learning modules that teach community organizing best practices and provide foundational knowledge, skills, behaviors, and mindsets. The person in this role will execute their work with a rigorous analysis of results and continuous improvement of blended learning experiences. The Manager will develop these tools and ensure they can be scaled across regions with geographically dispersed members, as well as in different organizing contexts from organizing with LEE's Organizing Alliances, to organizing professionally with non-profit groups, to volunteering as an organizer with campaigns. This role will also work in partnership with the Regional Impact and Communications teams to develop a strong pre- and post-organizing program engagement strategy. This strategy will leverage e-mail, social networks, internal platforms, and other communication mechanisms to inspire members to increase their involvement with organizing work both internally and externally to LEE. This position reports to the Vice President, Organizing Leadership.

Position Location: Washington D.C., Los Angeles or Denver

Travel Requirements: 15-20%

Responsibilities:

Develop a blended learning framework (45%)

  • Build, maintain and constantly improve a comprehensive online platform that provides tools for members to learn about, develop competencies in, and enter the community organizing field
  • Work across the National Impact team, and specifically with Discern staff on the Policy & Advocacy team and Elected Leadership team, to ensure organizational alignment across discern programming and supports
  • Design a virtual community that provides tools that engage members via mobile applications
  • Work with the Regional Impact team to support and execute OL blended learning programs within Organizing Alliances

Develop pre- and post-training engagement strategies (35%)

  • Develop a digital engagement plan that engages members pre/post training, including composing emails, social media messages, and other members communications
  • Work across LEE's National Impact team to ensure organizational alignment and share best practices
  • Lead regular (quarterly, annual) analyses and evaluation of digital engagement plans, incorporating this feedback into improvements

Program facilitation (10%)

  • Facilitate curriculum focused on creating digital organizing communities at National/Regional Organizing Workshops 
  • Instruct members on how to leverage LEE technology platforms to create organizing movements within their regions

Special projects (10%)

  • Serve as the liaison on cross-functional joint teams to evaluate and suggest improvements to blended learning programs. 
  • Other projects as needed
 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree 
  • 3 years of professional experience
  • 2 or more years of experience with instructional design or developing/managing a virtual blended learning platform
  • Experience engaging online communities in instructional environments
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize, track, and manage workflow and resources with attention to detail
  • Excellent technical, written and communications skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal acumen 
  • Ability to quickly adapt and learn technical systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1 year or more of experience developing social media, email, virtual strategies and campaigns
  • 1 year or more of experience in community organizing, field organizing
  • Experience or exposure to SalesForce
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate within a geographically dispersed team
  • Strong, demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity & inclusion
  • Deep passion for educational equity and belief in LEE's mission and theory of change

Salary for this position is competitive and depends on prior experience. In addition, a comprehensive benefits package is included.
