DEPUTY RESEARCH DIRECTOR
End Citizens United's Mission: To end Big Money in politics and fix our rigged political system by electing campaign finance reform champions, passing state ballot measures, and elevating this issue in the national conversation. We will work in partnership with these champions to overturn Citizens United and end the unlimited and undisclosed money in politics. We'll work towards this mission by: electing pro-reform candidates, raising the issue of money in politics as a national priority, working with ballot measure campaigns to pass pro-reform laws in the states, and using grassroots membership to demonstrate political power on the issue of money in politics.
Reports to: Research Director
Primary Responsibilities: The Deputy Research Director assists the Research Director in running the research department by helping supervise research associates and heading up long-term research projects. The Deputy Research Director helps strategically guide the Research Department's efforts to conduct innovative research to support its priority endorsed campaigns and fight big money in politics.
Specific Duties:
- ECU's priority races, including research to support ECU's endorsement process and opposition research.
- Projects to highlight the negative effects of unlimited and undisclosed spending in elections, including research on Super PACs, dark money groups, and corporate PACs.
- Other issue focused research as needed.
Oversee associates' daily monitoring of priority races.
Assist Research Director in completing quick-turnaround projects and fact-checking.
Candidate Requirements:
3-4 years' experience doing political research.
Familiarity with bullet writing.Additional Skills Desired:
- Advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge.
- Familiarity working with federal and state campaign finance data.
