National LGBTQ+ Community Organizer
at Warren For President (View all jobs)The Warren For President Campaign is hiring a National LGBTQ+ Community Organizer to join the team. The National LGBTQ+ Community Organizer will be responsible for executing national grasstops outreach and organizing within communities. National Community Organizers will help design and thoughtfully implement community engagement and organizing programming across the country that will build new relationships and bring new supporters and voices from key constituency groups into our campaign.
Working closely with field and state staff on the ground, as well as the national organizing and political teams, the National LGBTQ Community Organizer will be responsible for building and maintaining strategic relationships with community stakeholders and promoting ongoing engagement. The ideal candidate for the National LGBTQ+ Community Organizer will have a proven track record of working alongside or with community leaders and members of the activist community and possess a desire to build coalitions and foster support for the Warren for President campaign.
This is a full-time position based in campaign headquarters in Boston, MA and will involve significant travel.
In this position you will:
- Identify engagement, outreach and organizing opportunities to quickly design and implement a structure to engage key constituency leaders, community stakeholders, and volunteers with the Warren for President campaign
- Seek out any opportunities for campaign organizing, visibility, and engagement at community events, including but not limited to serving as or providing surrogates for community events
- Assess the voting and civic participation landscape in high-impact regions and develop outreach plans that will leverage volunteer networks and community influencers on the ground to engage new supporters
- Serve as a thought partner for teams on the ground and travel as needed to support those teams
- Build and maintain relationships with political and community leaders in key constituency groups
- Recruit and support active volunteer leaders and leverage their activities to create coalitions of supporters
- Use campaign technology systems to monitor and report on metrics related to outreach and engagement efforts and assess any gaps in effective outreach and engagement
Top things we're looking for:
- Strong commitment to Democratic politics and ideals and enthusiasm for electing Elizabeth Warren
- Ability to work in a high-pressure, on-call environment. Candidates must be self-motivated and willing to work long hours, including nights and weekends as needed
- Several years of experience in either state or local government, community organizations, campaign or issue organizing, or other, relevant community-based experience working on issues affecting LGBTQ+ communities
- An understanding of, and demonstrated experience with, issues and policies affecting LGBTQ+ individuals and an interest in building coalitions and fostering engagement with the Warren for President campaign
- Strong ability to build relationships
- Strong organizational skills, with an ability to multi-task and an ability to build something from the ground up
- Goal-oriented and motivated; able to work both independently to develop strategies and meet goals, but can also function well as part of a collaborative team
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, changing environment
- Able to use data to effectively analyze a program's effect and change course if needed
- Willingness to travel frequently (50%)
Not required but a plus if you have:
- Experience with campaign technology including Reach, VAN, Mobilize America, and more
