SEEKING A CAMPAIGN MANAGER
For a congressional campaign in New Jersey.
Campaign Manager wanted for progressive Democratic candidate seeking to challenge a lackluster incumbent. Campaign is based in northern New Jersey. The position begins immediately and employment will continue through the date of the primary -- June 2, 2020 -- with a possible extension until the November general election. The candidate is an immigrant, author, and law professor who specializes in constitutional law and election law. He is progressive and energetic, an excellent speaker, and has a following of 100 law students who want to work on the campaign. The candidate is looking for an experienced CM to run the campaign, starting immediately.
The ideal campaign manager should have excellent field, finance, and communications skills. He or she should be organized and hardworking. Knowledge of field operations, fundraising, and digital organizing a must. Contacts, experience, and/or knowledge of NJ is preferred but not required.
CM's responsibilities include:
- Reaching out to voters in Essex County, Hudson County, and Union County, NJ
- Communicating with the press, drafting candidate statements, and coordinating public appearances
- Conducting outreach to community organizations and local leaders
- Planning and managing fundraising events, including the candidate's launch event
- Working with volunteers and/or campaign staff to coordinate phone banking and canvassing
- Recruiting volunteers from the district for various campaign initiatives
- Providing a safe, inclusive working environment for volunteers and staff.
Candidate must have:
- Prior campaign experience, preferably at the CM level
- Ability / willingness to work long hours
- Experience with voter outreach
- Some familiarity with NJ
- Strong leadership and delegation skills
- Good organizational skills
