Position: Executive Director, Loudoun County Democtratic Committee
Salary: Commensurate with Experience
Supervision: Loudoun County Democratic Committee Elected Officers (Chair, Vice Chairs, Secretary, and Treasurer)
Location: Loudoun County, VA (Significant Remote Working Possible)
The Executive Director, in concert with Elected Leadership of LCDC, develops and implements the Loudoun County Democratic Committee's strategic plan and oversee political outreach, campaign coordination, membership maintenance and development, fundraising, communications, and various other aspects of the Committee's operations.
Over the past few years, the LCDC has developed a top-flight volunteer run/powered operation. We are looking for an up-and-coming political staffer to grow with the committee and build on recent wins. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Party Support:
Work closely with the LCDC Chair and with the officers to set goals and priorities for the LCDC.
Develop and implement a strategy for maintaining and expanding Committee membership.
Work with the Officers to organize all meetings of the Executive Board and general membership.
Provide guidance and support magisterial district committees.
Serve as a non-voting, de facto member of the Executive Board.
Financial:
Provide reports on weekly expenditures and funds raised as well as anticipated upcoming expenditures and contributions.
Work with the Treasurer to make sure all campaign finance reports, tax returns, and other required reports are filed accurately, on time and in compliance with federal and state law.
Plan fundraising efforts and work with Committee leadership to implement plans. Lead and supervise fundraising efforts, including large and small-donor events, and online fundraising.
Contact regular donors for special events and for on-going contributions.
Build and expand LCDC's donor base.
Work closely with the Officers and Executive Committee to develop and adhere to an operating budget and a coordinated campaign budget.
Campaign and Outreach:
Lead and supervise all political programs. Set strategic plans and goals, represent committee interests and oversee coordinated campaign activities.
Develop and maintain relationships with partner organizations including DPVA, labor unions, interest groups, and other entities that can assist LCDC.
Assist in the recruitment of qualified candidates for the various GOP-held and open elected offices of various levels that exist throughout the county.
In consultation with the Executive Committee, advise and assist the Democratic campaigns running in the county.
Other duties will be assigned by the Elected Officers of the Committee
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
A Minimum of one cycle of Fundraising and/or Campaign Experience. More experience is preferred, but not necessary.
Ability to create and execute a realistic, yet ambitious fundraising plans significant enough to fund LCDC's operations and grow them.
Experience with online fundraising.
Understanding or ability to quickly learn both state and federal election law.
Strong Communication Skills
Ability to craft a press release, write a fundraising letter/email, create web copy and other writing projects as assigned.
Be an effective speaker, whether talking to large or small groups, the press, the media, activists, or donors.
Project Management Skills:
Knowing how to plan a project or a program, track progress, and adjust resources as needed.
Understanding of long and short-term strategy; be able to help create a long-term plan for the party, monitor progress, and stick to goals.
Technology Proficiency:
Understanding of online fundraising platforms including ActBlue, Square, NGP, among others.
Experience with Votebuilder/VAN and NGP
Ability to strategize where and when to apply technology effectively.
Willingness to learn about and incorporate new technologies into long and short-term projects.
Political Savvy:
Understanding all aspects of elections, including the basics of election law, campaign techniques, campaign planning, targeting, polling, and GOTV programs.
Ability to make decisions grounded in informed political judgement and experience.
People-focused:
Ability to recruit and support volunteers.
Show respect for all and be especially aware of various issues in the current political climate.
An Executive Director who is energetic, creative, patient, and flexible and a well-developed sense of humor is an asset.
Relevant college degree preferred.
