A top target US Senate campaign is seeking a Deputy/Assistant Political Director for Outreach and Engagement.

The Deputy/Assistant Director will join a rapidly growing campaign in one of the most competitive US Senate races of 2020. Bollier for Kansas is endorsed by the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, EMILY's List, over 30 elected officials in state, and several labor unions.


Description


The Deputy/Assistant Director is responsible for 

  • The department's outreach to constituency and stakeholder groups, including leaders and associations of

    • LGBTQ, Latinx, African-American Communities, Veterans

    • Women, College and young Democrats

  • Developing and executing a volunteer engagement and early grassroots organizing plan

  • Building early volunteer infrastructure and working directly with volunteers and activist groups

  • Assisting the political director in tracking and documenting outreach

  • In subsequent phases of the campaign, an Assistant Director may be assigned a Kansas region for which they are responsible

  • Planning and managing grassroots events for their constituencies or region

  • Advancing events as needed

  • Assisting the political director's engagement with labor organizations, elected officials, national groups

  • Other duties as assigned


Title and pay will correspond with experience.


Qualifications


A qualified Deputy/Assistant Director will have at least one cycle of campaign experience or equivalent organizing experience. Candidates should be comfortable spending time in the field, and engaging directly with volunteers and external organizations. Strong social skills are required to succeed in this role.


Outreach is time-intensive and requires meticulous tracking. Among the Deputy/Assistant Director's principal roles is to assist a growing organization's effort to keep track of its many projects with external partners-- strong organizational skills are highly desirable in a candidate. 


The Deputy/Assistant Director will be working to manage a diverse coalition of stakeholders in Kansas. Special consideration will be given to candidates who have experience and success working with diverse groups and interests. Kansas ties are not required, but are a plus for candidates with less experience.
