CJR Strategist
Working Families is searching for a Strategist who shares our progressive values and can develop comprehensive strategic plans that advance our organizational goals by helping to elect progressive reformers who will help to end mass incarceration in this country.
Location
This job will require some travel. In the immediate we plan to run campaigns in Michigan, Florida and Colorado, and as such people with previous experience or roots in those states are strongly encouraged to apply, however that is not a requirement.
Employment Term
This position is full-time salaried through December 2021. The position may be renewed depending on available funding and demonstrable campaign impact.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead campaign execution on WFP CJR Initiatives, based on the strategy developed in conjunction with Director
- Independently produce comprehensive campaign plans using input from political, media and analytics teams
- Research and develop materials on Criminal Justice Reform issues
- Develop and maintain relationships with community & labor organizations advancing Criminal Justice Reform
- Support WFP endorsed campaigns
- Other Duties as assigned
Requirements
- A sincere passion and commitment to racial justice and building power for working people, with an understanding of how political strategy can be used to these ends.
- Preferred: three to five years' experience in political, labor, or community-based organizing.
- Strong project and time management skills
- Experience developing, managing, and executing conventional and rapid response campaigns, either for political or non-profit issue-based campaigns
- Keen understanding and demonstrated knowledge of creative best practices across campaigns
- Excellent listening, interpersonal, communication and problem solving skills;
- A willingness to learn, the ability to work hard with irregular hours, and the ability to work independently with guidance as well as within a team.
Salary
Salary range for this position is $65,000 to $75,000 depending on experience. A competitive benefits package includes health, dental, vision, and life insurance, a 401(k) retirement plan, paid holidays, and unlimited paid time off.
