Espy for Senate - Communications Director
The Espy for Senate campaign is looking for a Communications Director. The communications director will be responsible for developing and implementing the campaign's communications plan. The communications director will manage both national and in-state press outreach, prepare the candidate for interviews and run the overall earned media strategy.
In a 2018 special election, Mike Espy raised over $7million in less than eight months in the most competitive state wide race Mississippi had seen in over two decades. Mike Espy is the DSCC endorsed candidate in the race and has already begun outraising Cindy Hyde-Smith.
Responsibilities
Developing and implementing the campaign's communications plan
Developing and fostering relationships with local and national reporters covering the campaign
Work closely with other departments on the implementation of the campaigns overall communications plan and needs
Oversee campaign's digital content and communication
Prepare the candidate for interviews and public speeches
Be the on record spokesperson for the campaign
Qualifications
At least two cycles of campaign experience
At least one cycle on record experience
Excellent personal skills with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships.
Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including attention to detail.
Ability to travel and work weekends and nights as needed
Position is based in Jackson, MS
Past experience managing staff and preparing a candidate a plus
Good sense of humor and ability to be flexible with changing schedules
