The North Carolina Democratic Party is hiring a Deputy Voter Protection Director. The Deputy Voter Protection Director will work alongside the Voter Protection Director and Voter Protection and Community Engagement Organizer to engage, educate, and protect North Carolina voters. They will be responsible for building and sustaining political and strategic relationships with the appropriate county election officials, county Boards of Elections, and key voter protection volunteers, and will be a resource for legal and strategic action against efforts aimed at disenfranchising voters.

Duties Include:
● Monitoring Board of Elections activities in North Carolina's 100 counties and assisting with advocacy targeted toward Board of Elections members
● Drafting legal summaries and analyses, voter information guides, online and social media copy, and other voting rights materials;
● Building relationships with leaders and activists, party and community organizations, and faith groups;
● Recruiting and training county liaisons, poll observers, and other volunteers during One-Stop Early Voting and on Election Day;
● Building and delivering training programs to volunteers;
● Assisting voters on the Voter Assistance Hotline;
● Assisting with the strategic, technical and operational needs of a Voter Protection boiler room and hotline during Early Vote and on Election Day; and
● Maintaining a current knowledge of Voter Protection related issues, as well as a current knowledge of Party activities and goals.

Required Qualifications:
● Spanish proficiency (fluency preferred)
● Political organizing and/or campaign experience (with a preference for organizing experience in North Carolina and/or the South and/or marginalized communities);
● Excellent project management, time management, and organizational skills;
● Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy;
● A willingness to be flexible, adapt quickly, and take new and unforeseen challenges in stride;
● Excellent oral and written communication skills;
● Strong legal acumen; and
● A demonstrated commitment to advancing voting rights.

Preferred Qualifications:
● Law Degree and/or law firm/paralegal experience and  and experience reviewing cases, statutes, and regulations, drafting legal memos and other documents, and effectively communicating legal concepts for the comprehension of non-lawyers;
● Experience as a poll observer, hotline volunteer, boiler room attorney, or other voting rights related experience; and
● Prior professional experience working with and managing volunteers.

This is a full-time, term-limited position that runs through November 2020. The position is based in Raleigh, North Carolina and will require occasional travel throughout the state. The compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience. All NCDP staff receive full medical/dental/eye coverage and life insurance insurance.
