About the organization:
The Committee to Protect Medicare (CTP) is a national issue-advocacy organization seeking to protect and expand Medicare, Medicaid, and the ACA & achieve universal health care. Through a network of organized physicians prepared to engage in public advocacy and media appearances, CTP amplifies and highlights health care policy's most trusted messengers - physicians and front line medical workers - to advocate for health care protection and progress.
About the Position:
The Committee to Protect Medicare is searching for a Regional Organizer to help expand the organization's membership and build advocacy capacity at the state level. The Regional Organizer will focus on transforming states from a loosely networked group of physicians and frontline medical workers to a highly organized and disciplined group of communicators. Positions available for the following regions: Southwest, Midwest, and Eastern Seaboard.
These organizers, at the direction of the Program Officer, will help produce the communication and organizing capacity to scale the recruitment, coaching, structure building, and resourcing for Physician state leads - ensuring that those who are recruited and trained have sufficient support to be successful while marrying the world of medicine and policy with the arena of public education and advocacy. Physicians recruited and organized by the regional organizer must provide some combination of time, talent, or treasure to aid CTP in achieving its long- and short-term organizational goals. Examples of engagement include doing local and statewide media appearances, organizing press events, drafting op-eds and letters to the editor, and contributing financially to the organization.
The ideal candidate for the Regional Organizer position is comfortable navigating a fast-paced workplace, discussing health care policy with individuals and organizations, distilling and reporting out metrics, and learning new skills. Diplomacy and a drive to meet time-bound goals are a must.
