The Michigan House Democratic Fund is immediately hiring Campaign Managers to win targeted races, flip the four seats we need to control the Michigan House, and give Governor Whitmer real partners in Lansing.


Campaign Managers will determine campaign strategy, run day-to-day campaign operations, manage candidate needs and schedule, and lead fundraising and voter contact programs. 


Pay and Logistics: Compensation is $3,500/month, and includes health care. Position runs ASAP through November 15.


Primarily hiring for Metro Detroit positions, with others statewide. Michigan candidates preferred, must be willing to relocate if public health conditions change.

JOB DESCRIPTION: CAMPAIGN MANAGER


Democrats in the Michigan House of Representatives currently hold 52 of 110 seats, and are just four seats away from flipping the house in 2020 for the first time in nearly a decade to give Governor Whitmer real partners in Lansing.


The Michigan House Democratic Fund is seeking Campaign Managers to win targeted races in Metro Detroit and statewide in the crucial final months.


Overview

The Campaign Manager will work efficiently and strategically to flip the seat and the Michigan House in 2020. They will run day-to-day campaign operations, partner with the candidate and other stakeholders to determine and implement the overarching campaign strategy, and lead and participate in all voter contact efforts.


Responsibilities

  • Work with the candidate and the core campaign team to finalize the campaign plan, including fundraising, organizing, and media targets.

  • Maintain the candidate and campaign schedules; enforce critical deadlines.

  • Oversee fundraising by planning events and managing candidate call time, implementing tested as well as innovative fundraising strategies.

  • Manage field strategy and volunteer program, including a weekly dial requirement.

  • Manage staff and/or volunteer leaders, delegating responsibilities accordingly.

  • Work to secure endorsements and to maximize fundraising, volunteer recruitment, and communications opportunities from partners and stakeholders.

  • Manage social media and email program; draft press releases and plan press events; oversee letters to the editor program and listening events.


Qualifications

The Campaign Manager should have at least one cycle of campaign or issue organizing experience, and must be dedicated to the overarching values and goals of the Democratic Party. Ideal candidates are former campaign staffers with knowledge of and experience with appropriate strategies for red-to-blue districts, are exceptionally organized, personable, and able to think quickly and act independently. 


Compensation and Details

Start date is ASAP through November 15, 2020. The position is full time, requiring evenings and weekends. Pay is $3,500/month, and includes health care. We are primarily hiring for campaigns in the metro Detroit area, with other opportunities in Central, Western, and Northern Michigan. Candidates must be local or willing to relocate.
