Out of State Volunteer Director


The Out of State Director will be responsible for managing various components of a digital mobilization program that will feature a tightly-contested Presidential campaign, a highly-watched, targeted U.S. Senate race to defeat Joni Ernst, four competitive congressional races, opportunities to flip control in the Iowa legislature, and elect Democrats at the local level in all of Iowa's 99 counties. This is a general election position through November 15, 2020 and reports to the Mobilization Director.

Salary Range: $4,100 - $4,500

Responsibilities Include:

Oversee our Out of State volunteer program including managing relationships with out of state groups, individual volunteers, and volunteer leaders

Assist in implementing virtual volunteer trainings and volunteer onboarding and management processes via Slack and other online platforms

Serve as a rapid response help representative via Slack, Zoom, and other relational digital tools to answer questions during phone banks for Out of State volunteers

Directly manage at least one digital organizer

Assist the Mobilization Director with other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Passionate about electing Democrats up and down the ballot

Experience with volunteer management and empowering volunteer leaders

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with people from different backgrounds to manage and supervise volunteer teams

Able to work in a fast paced environment and meet tight deadlines

At least one cycle of organizing experience

Prefered Qualifications:

Direct experience with organizing or digital organizing programs on a political campaign or progressive organization

Familiarity using peer-to-peer texting programs, dialer programs, and/or relational organizing tools
