About the Faith Climate Justice Voter Campaign
The Faith Climate Justice Voter Campaign is a nonpartisan Interfaith Power & Light(IPL)- led campaign that includes several faith and climate partners.
The Faith Climate Justice Voter Campaign is mobilizing faith voters in 2020 to communicate their values of caring for Creation and loving our neighbors through voting.
There are deep inequities and racial injustices in our communities and nation. This is a moment for fundamental change. We need leaders who share our values of loving our neighbors and caring for Creation and are committed to ending structures of oppression, ending environmental injustices, and tackling global warming.
We know how important our leaders are at every level of government. We want to take this moment of opportunity to help make change and bring forth a world rooted in a bold, meaningful vision for justice and love.
About the position
IPL is engaging supporters to reach out to faith voters and to incorporate the campaign into their congregations' activities.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with a creative and diverse team of state leaders, volunteers, and national campaign staff to make a difference in the 2020 election. We are seeking someone with strong organizing and interpersonal skills, flexibility, and passion for the cause who is able to inspire others. The temporary, part time Volunteer Coordinator will set up volunteer events and recruit, train, and plug in volunteers to campaign activities. It is a 25-30 hour per week contract position, beginning ASAP through November 13th.
Work will, at times, be scheduled in the evenings and/or weekends and will need to allow for working across multiple time zones. This position requires creativity and flexibility due to the fast paced nature and mission of our campaign.
It can be based in Oakland, CA or remotely. Location or experience working in any of our focus states (NC, VA, NH, MN, WI, MI, and AZ) also a plus.
Job Responsibilities
The Volunteer Coordinator will report to the Campaign Manager and be responsible for the following:
Lead volunteer recruitment and management across the IPL network for the Faith Climate Justice Voter Campaign.
Create a volunteer infrastructure to allow for scaling up volunteer engagement so we can recruit and plug in volunteers from across the network to meaningful and impactful GOTV work.
Set up and staff twice weekly volunteer events, textbanks or phonebanks.
Coordinate, onboard, and plug new volunteers into volunteer opportunities.
Follow up with volunteers to keep them engaged.
Track volunteer engagement.
Assist in data management- help manage data for voter outreach and ensure data is tracked in IPL's CRM and the VAN.
Collecting data with timely and accurate data entry of engagement activities.
Volunteer coordinator is responsible for following all procedures and protocols.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Commitment to advancing goals of Faith Climate Justice Voter Campaign.
Previous experience organizing for political campaign or advocacy group.
Previous experience managing phone- or text-banks for a campaign a plus.
Experience in recruiting and managing volunteers, and volunteer leadership development.
Strategic thinking skills
Proficiency in Google applications and Microsoft Office program.
Experience with VAN and ThruText or other peer to peer texting platform a plus.
Compensation is $25/hour. The position is a contract position. IPL is an equal opportunity employer and committed to workforce diversity.
