Role Description: 

We are looking for an experienced, motivated and self-driven Operations Director (OD) to join our team! As the OD, you will oversee the day-to-day operational activities of the company, ensuring that the organization is managed and performing efficiently and effectively.  You'll work closely with the Managing Director and Partners to ensure seamless operations and HR logistics that support a diverse growing team. You'll thrive in this role if you work well in fast paced work environments, and have had success in building systems and processes from scratch to support growing businesses and teams. 

These are the required skills for this position: 

  • 8+ years experience in a senior operations role. 

  • Demonstrated experience with multiple operational functions, including finance and human resources.

  • Demonstrated experience with general finance and budgeting, including profit and loss, balance sheet and cash-flow management.

  • Proven ability to develop and manage operational processes for maximum efficiency and productivity with rapidly shifting business demands.

  • Experience selecting, implementing and managing operations software i.e Payroll, Accounting, CRM, HRIS, ATS, etc. 

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 

  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.


We are hoping that you bring one (or more) of these bonus skills:

  • Familiarity with employment law and practices for distributed teams.

  • Experience with budgeting and forecasting. 

  • Experience with hiring and recruitment.


These are the core responsibilities of the role: 

Operations: 

  • Oversee all administrative duties including office management and setup, generally ensuring that all office functions are operating smoothly. 

  • Develop, implement and manage operational policies and procedures.

  • Develop, execute, and manage all business contracts. 

  • Ensure legal compliance and risk mitigation, including insurance procurement, contracts, leases, legal documentation.

Finance: 

  • Managing day to day financial transactions including but not limited to cash flow management, invoicing, and bill payment.

  • Manage payroll and employee reimbursements, including software and systems. 

  • Produce regular financial reports for the COO and partners.

Human Resources: 

  • Manage onboarding logistics for all new staff, including setup in all relevant systems and software.

  • Manage logistics and support programming for all staff gatherings and retreats.

  • Partner with the managing director to facilitate bi-annual performance reviews and quarterly goals assessments. 

  • Partner with the managing director to enhance the firm's human resources policies, practices, and programs.

  • Manage and implement all employee benefits programs.

This position is salaried at $94,500 and comes with a package of comprehensive benefits. 

At Fireside Campaign, to ensure pay equity, all salaries are set in bands according to the expectations of the role. In other words, the starting pay for this job is equal to others at the same level throughout the company.  

Location: Washington, D.C. is preferred but not required. We have an office in the Washington DC area but we are working from home due to the pandemic. 

Travel: There is no travel associated with this role until it is widely safe to do so. There may be domestic travel involved in the job in the future upon discussion. 

Qualified candidates will participate in a series of interviews with a range of staff at Fireside Campaigns.
