In the next decade, the vast majority of Jewish non-profits will need to hire a new CEO. These leadership transitions pose a challenge and an opportunity for the sector. WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS

The Director of Business Operations (DBO) will be the driving force in strengthening and growing the core internal systems at Leading Edge. As the DBO, you will report to the Chief Operating Officer, Mordy Walfish, and will serve as a key leader of the team responsible for internal operations, data management, and research & development. You will be responsible for driving operational strategies that support the work of a growing organization moving at rocket speed. The insights derived from your data systems can have a rippling cultural impact across Jewish organizations enabling CEOs to maximize human capital and improve the day-to-day experience of their employees. This position represents an investment in our internal capacity and your work will enable us to scale, work smarter, and become infinitely more efficient -- you'll be our WD40 to smooth operational friction.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational Strategy & Data Management - 50%

You will drive the organization's learning culture and take it to the next level; create the systems and structures to evaluate ongoing programs, codify impact, and allow staff to continuously learn and integrate key findings. To do this, you will:

  • Identify and select a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software and customize the platform in support of our programmatic and research needs.
  • Maintain and update our CRM and develop capabilities to share out timely reports detailing progress to key metrics, analysis, learnings, and evaluations with key stakeholders.
  • Utilizing the principles of change management, create an internal roll-out and onboarding strategy to gain full adoption and usage of the new CRM.
  • Implement a framework that allows the organization to forecast and plan strategically through data.

Improve Internal Systems - 25%

You will work closely with team members across the organization to identify where efficiencies can be captured; design solutions for the organization to make operational improvements. To do this, you will:

  • Design and/or strengthen workflow systems around financial management and reporting & fundraising.
  • Be a key thought partner to teams/projects around operational strategy and systems improvement.

Research and Development - 25%

You will help the organization drive forward its research and development agenda, providing the field with key insights around talent, leadership and culture. To do this, you will:

  • Serve as a thought partner to the leadership team in developing new ideas to research.
  • Co-design the key research questions, methodology and goals of each project.
  • Manage the relationship with an external research firm, ensuring excellent project management.
  • Share personal insights and organizational learnings around operational and systems excellence with the field.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Passionate about the mission of Leading Edge
  • Minimum of five years of professional experience
  • Strong technology skills, including CRM and dashboard experience
  • Visionary systems-thinker with emotional maturity and the ability to work in an agile environment with competing priorities
  • Strong data analysis skills

Nice to Haves

  • Experience in both the corporate and the non-profit sector
  • Experience on a small team
  • Experience or interest in the Jewish non-profit sector

  • You're an expert project manager. You have experience in executing projects from start to finish with sound planning and persistent execution.
  • You have a sense of humor and are kind. You take the work seriously, but you don't take yourself too seriously.

COMMITMENT, COMPENSATION, & BENEFITS

This is a full-time exempt position, with a salary between $95,000-$110,000 commensurate with experience. Leading Edge provides a best-in-class benefits package, including 100% coverage for employees and 50% coverage for spouses and dependents. This includes medical, dental, and vision benefits, retirement matching, wellness benefits, and robust professional development stipend.
