[CONSULTANCY] Remote, Part-Time, COMMUNICATIONS SERVICES (Transnational Solidarity Movement Building)
U.S./AFRICA BRIDGE BUILDING PROJECT
Are you a communications professional in between gigs? Or, are you an established consultant looking for a short-term addition to your existing client list? The U.S./Africa Bridge Building Project, a new, transnational solidarity start-up initiative needs immediate communications services. Specifically, we are looking for an individual or firm to:
Ø Work with the Project team (staff, consultants, and graphic designers) to develop a communications strategy,
Ø Help with public relations services for a major publication release,
Ø Help maintain our online presence, including the website and social media.
Individuals and communications firms are welcome to submit a proposal.
DESCRIPTION: The U.S. is at an inflection point, and the opportunity to work for meaningful structural change is real. Success, however, depends upon filling three strategic gaps. The first gap, which one analyst defined as the "weakest link in the opposition to" racism and authoritarianism—is the lack of a global perspective and transnational solidarity. The absence of U.S.-based, replicable, transnational solidarity models in the tax justice arena is a second gap. Thirdly, the resource gap between well-financed think-tanks, advocacy, and development organizations, versus groups working to build collective power from the bottom up is significant. The U.S./Africa Bridge Building Project, launched November 1, 2020, seeks to address those strategic gaps.
SCOPE OF WORK: The individual or firm is expected to provide communications planning, public relations, and editing services.
Ø COMMUNICATIONS PLANNING. Within the first two months of service, the consultant (individual or firm) will collect input from the Project team and produce a communications strategy to guide the initiative.
Ø ONLINE PRESENCE. A website is under construction, with an expected January 15, 2021 completion. The Project requires public relations assistance to plan and implement the website launch, handle monthly website updates and maintain its social media presence.
Ø PUBLIC RELATIONS. The Project will release a substantive online publication in April/May. Messaging for earned, owned, and social media, along with media outreach services, is required. The ability to develop and maintain a targeted media list is essential.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Ø Experience in leading a consultative process to develop and implement a communications strategy;
Ø Creative experience managing social media;
Ø Experience managing WordPress websites;
Ø Excellent written communication and editing skills;
Ø Ability to produce engaging, accessible, and jargon-free content;
Ø Familiarity with financial donor software;
Ø Excellent interpersonal skills;
Ø Self-motivated, self-disciplined, and committed to social and economic justice;
Ø Ability to work remotely;
Ø Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines;
Ø A sense of humor
ISSUE EXPERIENCE: The successful individual consultant or firm will have documented experience with and understanding of:
Ø Transnational solidarity and grassroots social change initiative;
Ø Economic equality activism, for example, Occupy Wallstreet, Movement for Black Lives, or global tax justice initiatives;
Ø African social movement economic justice efforts;
COMPENSATION: $270/day; maximum 74-day contract over four to six months.
To apply, please send a cover letter stating your interest in a service contract, resume, a list of related experience, and samples of your work to info@us-africabridgebuilding.org.

LCV believes our earth is worth fighting for because everyone has a right

are protected, we help people use their power to shape policy, hold
politicians and polluters accountable, and influence elections.
Our over 2 million members, our volunteers and staff, and our more than 30

taken leadership in the fights to keep rooftop solar affordable and
accessible and convert dirty diesel school buses to clean electric fleets,

BlockPower Fellow: Marketing Director
Status: Full-Time through January 15, 2021
Position Location: Remote
Pay: $6,000-$8,000/month
Starts: Immediately
Who we are
In the 2016 presidential election, more than three million Black people in
six key states were eligible to vote but didn't. If even one out of three
of those eligible-but-nonvoting Black people had voted, America would have
a different President, Senate, and Supreme Court.
BlockPower was founded to increase Black voter turnout and civic engagement
in this election cycle and beyond. It is powered by a platform that makes
grassroots get-out-the-vote efforts more efficient, effective, and safe by
enabling contactless voter engagement and using data to guide outreach. The
platform assists in recruiting, training, and paying Black micro-organizers
(Ambassadors) to identify, motivate, and empower Black non-voters
(Triplers) they already know. We have partnered with the New Georgia
Project (one of Stacey Abrams' groups), Black Leaders Organizing for
Communities in Milwaukee, and Color of Change in Florida and supported
efforts in North Carolina and Arizona to invest directly in Black
communities and amplify Black voices in the 2020 General Election.
By focusing relational voter engagement efforts in partnership with The New
Georgia Project using the BlockPower model and platform, we can change the
course of the twin Georgia Senate runoffs in January to ensure a more just,
equitable, and progressive future.
