Clean Vehicles Campaign Overview:
The Clean Vehicles Campaign is an unbranded coalition of nearly 50 groups from various areas dedicated to advancing policies to reduce pollution from cars, trucks, buses and other vehicles. The Campaign works to leverage existing infrastructure, resources, and assets and collaborates with allied coalitions.
In the next year, the Campaign seeks to accelerate the drive to an all electric future in the transportation sector with a robust U.S. manufacturing sector, strong labor standards, and equitable resource deployment.
The Clean Vehicles Campaign is a project of the Partnership Project.
Purpose:
The Clean Vehicles Campaign seeks an experienced Campaign Manager to add to our growing team. This person will work under the Director to advance the Campaigns policy priorities, maintain strong working relationships with coalition members, policymakers, allies, and other key stakeholders.
Candidates should have organizing or coalition management experience with strong written and verbal communications skills, politically savvy, working knowledge of climate or transportation issues, and a commitment to ground their work in social justice.
Key Responsibilities
The Campaign Manager will help coordinate and run coalition members and campaigns focused on advancing electrification of trucks, buses, and other medium- and heavy-duty vehicles.
Key responsibilities include conveying coalition partners, creating and implementing a multifaceted campaign, working with partners to identify relevant research and policy analysis, advocacy, managing a communications consultant to execute a robust and strategic communications plan, and working with partners to advance federal and state based campaigns.
The Campaign Manager will report to the Director, but as this is a small team, they will also collaborate and work closely with the Deputy Director and the Coordinator.
During COVID, this position is remote. Eventually, the position will be based in a four-person office in Washington, D.C.
PRIMARY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Coalition and Campaign Management:
· Lead a coalition of groups dedicated to advancing clean vehicle options for trucks, buses, and other medium-and heavy-duty vehicles
· Work closely with the Director and Deputy Director to develop campaign strategy and tactics
· Implement and facilitate coalition strategies and tactics, while also looking for ways to raise up the work of coalition members
· Proactively look for ways to grow the coalition membership and increase member engagement
· Represent the coalition in advocacy forums, conferences and other relevant venues
· Organize coalition meetings and outreach efforts (e.g., sign-on letters, events, lobby meetings, briefings, etc.)
· Monitor and report on emerging legislation, regulations, and policy developments on medium and heavy-duty vehicle electrification policies
· Research and prepare one-pagers, internal memos, tracking sheets and other content as needed
· Manage communications consultants on the creation of social guidance, message guidance, and other communications tools that help to advance the campaign
· Build and maintain exceptional professional relationships with policymakers, the White House, national partners and coalitions
· Help manage coalition retreats and events, when applicable
· This position offers a significant opportunity to expand the reach and influence of the organization
Program Administration:
· Contribute input and participate in strategic planning
· Helping to write grant reports and proposals
· Participate in weekly team meetings
· Contribute towards a positive, productive, and collaborative working environment.
· Maintain accurate records in databases and tracking systems, updated in a timely manner for effective information sharing in our remote culture
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
We are especially interested in candidates who have previously managed a coalition or have organized a campaign. We are also interested in candidates who have strong written and verbal communications skills, and a passion for bridging divides and bringing people together around a common cause.
Other qualifications include:
· Preferred working knowledge of climate and/or transportation issues
· Minimum of 3-4 years of relevant work experience
· Demonstrated ability to develop and leverage strong working relationships with key decision makers, partners and diverse stakeholders
· Strong written and verbal communications skills, including excellent writing and editing skills, persuasive communication, and public presentation and/or meeting facilitation skills
· Competency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite
· Appreciation for digital advocacy, grassroots organizing, and movement building
· A team player who works well with others and can manage multiple projects, including in urgent situations
· Willing to take initiative, exercise good judgment, and use diplomacy and discretion
COMPENSATION:
• Salary commensurate with experience ($70-90K)
