Convergence Targeted Communications is seeking a Senior Strategist for full-time employment through the 2022 election cycle, preferably in their Washington, DC office. The Senior Strategist reports to the Vice President.
About the company: Convergence Targeted Communications is a boutique strategic communications consultancy based in Washington, DC, focused on electoral politics. We create and produce targeted communications (including but not limited to direct mail and digital advertising) for political campaigns and forward-thinking causes and coalitions. We're proud that our client base encompasses a full spectrum of progressive/Democratic thought, and of our corporate and nonprofit/advocacy work.
We're a small company with big reach - our clients have ranged from candidates for City Council to President, and we've worked in over 40 states (so far).
About the job: We're hiring a Senior Strategist to help with every facet of our business. In partnership with other Convergence staff, you'll interface directly with clients and play a role in defining strategy. You'll work on nearly every phase of the communications process, from determining the right audience for our messages to drafting communications, working with our design team and clients to edit and produce top-notch, error-free work. This will include some 'finishing' print design work, using the Adobe Creative Suite. You'll also create and monitor social media and digital ad campaigns.
At a larger firm, someone with this role might work in one particular 'silo,' but at Convergence, you'll have the opportunity to do a bit of everything, while enjoying a laid back (though still professional) working environment and a "bureaucracy-free zone" that you won't find at larger firms. Convergence takes professional development seriously; in this role, you'll have the opportunity to participate in technical trainings and attend industry events.
The salary range for this position is $57,500 - $62,500. Additionally, Convergence provides 100% reimbursement for health insurance and a staff bonus pool based on firm-wide and individual performance that can significantly increase compensation, especially in "on" even-numbered years.
About you: You have some experience in politics, either on a campaign or in political communications. You're passionate about progressive, results-oriented politics, and may have been told by friends that you're obsessed with detail. You want to do good while doing well, and you don't mind working odd hours (only) when necessary. Ideally, you have some experience with social media, design, or with political or traditional marketing writing.
Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of professional experience in communications or political campaigns
- Excellent writing skills
- Record of attention to detail in an occasionally stressful environment
