[jobsthatareLEFT] Strategic Organizer, UpVote - San Francisco, CA

Organizers will develop and mobilize a network of new San Francisco voters and educate them about local issues. As an Organizer, you will work with some of the city's most innovative companies to register their employees to vote and develop strategies to engage these new voters. If you are passionate about politics and want to interact with local San Franciscans, this is a great opportunity to do both!


Responsibilities:

Reporting daily to the Program Director and Lead Organizer, as an Organizer you will…


  • Work on and execute creative strategies to identify and persuade new residents to register to vote and turnout at elections.

  • Conduct outreach through phone calls, site visits, canvassing public spaces, and other means.

  • Recruit and manage volunteers who will assist in your outreach goals.

  • Be well versed in upcoming San Francisco elections/ballot measures and provide additional resources to get involved/learn about upcoming elections.


Required Qualifications:

  • Outstanding people skills with proven ability to work with diverse groups of people.

  • Demonstrated organizing, marketing, sales, or customer/public-facing experience.

  • Highly self-motivated and directed.

  • Access to reliable transportation.

  • Physical requirements include walking and standing, sitting, talking, and listening for several hours per day. The ability to spend many hours on the telephone and working with a computer, significant cell phone use, frequent public transportation use or driving, and some night and weekend work. Must be comfortable with campaign hours.


Nice to have but not required:

  • Experience with organizing or canvassing in issue advocacy or political campaigns.

  • 1-2+ years of startup or tech company experience, internships ok.
