A newly launched national organization, The Fairness Project seeks a talented and energetic Digital Associate. The Digital Associate is a new position that will work closely with and report directly to both the Communications Director and the Executive Director to manage the organization's digital activities, including day-to-day management, planning and execution of a national strategy and work in collaboration with our state partners. This position is located in the San Francisco Bay Area in CA.
The Fairness Project is bolstering state-based ballot initiative campaigns and driving a national narrative to elevate issues of economic fairness. By harnessing the power of successful ballot initiative campaigns, The Fairness Project is empowering voters to take direct action to change their own lives.
The online program serves as the face of The Fairness Project – enabling people to take action, gather information, mobilize other supporters, and donate to the cause. The Digital Associate will play a critical role in communicating The Fairness Project's mission, capitalizing on key moments, managing our robust social platforms, developing our email program, coordinating messaging with state partners, and using data to test and further our programs.
Responsibilities include, but are not be limited to:
· Supporting the planning and execution of a digital strategy, in coordination with the Executive Director, Communications Director, and organizational partners.
· Track the progress toward metrics-driven objectives that achieve the organization's goals at both the state and national level.
· Work with TFP team to manage digital campaigns across multiple channels, including but not limited to our website, email, Facebook, Twitter, and mobile presence.
· Support our digital advertising team on the purchasing on search, social, and with working with media partners.
· Support the development of state partner websites in coordination with website developer and state partners
· Support TFP's online fundraising program – particularly through drafting emails and tracking progress.
· Work with the organization's digital consultants and other outside vendors, as necessary.
· Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications include, but are not limited to:
· A commitment to the organization's purpose, and a motivation to see organizational success.
· One – Three years experience working in a digital department on a political or issue campaign.
· Understanding of best practices and workflows in the following areas of expertise:
o Social media.
o Online content creation.
o Email communications.
o Mobile strategy.
o Paid digital media.
o Online fundraising.
· Technical skills, including but not limited to:
o Familiarity with BSD, NGP, Word Press, VAN, and Salsa.
o An understanding of web analytics tools, including Google Analytics.
o Sufficient quantitative proficiency for tasks like A/B testing and email segmentation.
· Ability to work within tight deadlines, manage multiple projects at once, and understand that long hours are occasionally required to meet deadlines
· Ability to work well with others, and a passion for organizing people around ideas both on and offline.
· Strong writing abilities.
The ideal candidate has between one – three years experience working in a digital department or has been on a political or advocacy campaign and can tackle problems strategically. Salary for this full-time position is commensurate with experience.
