Position Summary:
Family Values @ Work, www.familyvaluesatwork.org is a network of state coalitions that organize to win work and family policies such as paid sick days and paid family leave. We seek a skilled, experienced and creative Manager for our Family and Medical Leave Insurance Campaign who shares our vision and values of building power to ensure that every person can care for themselves and their loved ones without risking their financial security. The FMLI Campaign Manager will oversee our campaign to win FMLI in a critical mass of states, building to a national victory. S/he will work closely with state coalitions on every aspect of campaign planning, identifying and lifting up best practices, and linking state work to a national plan.
Responsibilities:
• Support state leads in the development and coordination of campaign strategies, including building a broad and diverse coalition; engaging worker activists; reaching out to business partners; identifying and training spokespeople; creating strategic communications plans; deepening voter engagement; collecting stories; and developing meaningful campaign activities.
• Drive the documentation and evaluation of best practices and lessons from each campaign.
• Facilitate peer learning, including organizing in-person convenings.
• Prepare reports for the network, donors and the media.
• Help coordinate with national partners.
• Participate in fundraising for the campaign.
• Work with local and national communications teams and policy leads on materials, including op-eds, background pieces, fact sheets, press kit materials, leaflets, documentation of how campaigns were won, and other pieces as needed.
Direction and Decision Making
The FMLI Campaign Manager will work independently with clear guidance and assistance, and report to the Executive Director.
Qualifications Required
• Strong commitment to gender and racial justice and social justice values.
• At least four (4) years professional experience working in campaign management, preferably in social justice movement.
• Ability to work well with diverse leaders and colleagues.
• Ability to communicate effectively and creatively, both orally and in writing.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects, develop work plans and meet target goals and objectives.
• Desire to work in and foster a culture of high output, open communication, low ego, and no drama.
• Some travel required.
• Appreciates humor and the importance of life outside of work.
Desirable:
• Fluency in Spanish and/or experience in racial justice organizing.
