SUMMARY:

The Fundraising Team at NextGen Climate is currently seeking a Finance Assistant to work with the team to streamline communication across the organization, ensure programs are being executed and analyzed effectively, and assist with administrative priorities. 

The Finance Assistant will assist in the day-to-day administration of fundraising events, logistics, donor maintenance and engagement, and other tasks as assigned.  A portion of an assistant's will include the planning and execution of successful fundraising events.  The ideal candidates must be incredibly detail oriented, organized and possess excellent interpersonal skills. All applicants must have the ability to travel and work weekends.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Administrative Support
  • Schedule appointments, meetings, travel, and event planning for the finance team
  • Proactively and independently handle day-to-day operational matters such as preparing meeting materials and presentations
  • Manage external inquiries with timely follow up and direct calls/emails to relevant staff members
  • Manage contacts and other databases
  • Maintain up-to-date expense reporting
  • Other relevant administrative tasks as needed
Communications
  • Conduct necessary research and vet requests for the fundraising team
  • Draft emails to external donors and stakeholders on behalf of the fundraising team
  • Assist in writing and pulling together relevant documents for briefings and internal and external memos
Project Management
  • Assist the team in managing and tracking of outcomes and key metrics
  • Attend meetings, as needed, take notes, and track action items
  • Create relevant tools to assist with streamlining processes and procedures
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects effectively while prioritizing deliverables
  • Identify areas for improvement across the team
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: 
  • Graduated from a 4-year university
  • Ability to work well in a team setting and coordinate with a group of team members required
  • Keen attention to detail, both in written and verbal communication and time management required
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Ability to analyze data sets to help political team judge execution of programs required
  • Adaptability to changing priorities and quick turnarounds required
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

BONUS POINTS FOR:
  • Demonstrated interest in politics and/or environmental causes
  • Experience in scheduling
  • Experience with databases such as NGP VAN or SalesForce
  • Experience in donor research and prospecting, and knowledge of prospecting tools including online research and disclosure databases
  • At least once cycle of fundraising experience.
