SUMMARY:
NextGen Climate is seeking a dynamic political professional to run our national youth vote program. The campus-based program will focus on persuading and turning out college students to vote in the 2016 election, in one of the largest non-candidate youth vote programs in U.S. history. This position is located in San Francisco and we're looking for a road warrior who's enthusiastic about travel.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and manage youth vote plans for targeted states, including overseeing budget and staffing.
- Directly manage state-based youth vote directors; the National Campus Program Director will be held accountable for hitting aggressive numerical goals per campus for voter registration, vote pledges, and GOTV impact.
- Ensure efficient workflow across all campaign functions (communications, digital, policy, research, etc) in coordination with HQ team leads.
- Work with communications and digital departments to tell the story of the youth vote movement, climate narrative and NGC's role.
- Coordinate with partner organizations on grant projects, making sure messages are aligned and metrics are being met.
- Liaise with organizations and other members of the youth vote political community, as appropriate.
- Manage vendors related to campus program.
- Manage or support on special projects as needed.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- 6-8 years of issue and electoral campaign experience, including specific experience on youth vote or campus-focused programs.
- 3+ years managing staff teams -- including in the context of remote management with a large, distributed organizing model with combined paid canvass and volunteers.
- Very well organized; excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues; works well in a fast‐paced environment and ability to multi‐task without sacrificing quality of work.
- Ability to foster a cooperative, team‐oriented work environment.
- Enthusiasm for travel (about 50% time).
