Colorado Priorities is a statewide campaign supporting a ballot initiative on the November 2016 ballot. The ballot initiative will allow Colorado to invest in education, transportation, senior services and mental health services.


Colorado Priorities is seeking an Organizing Director to manage a comprehensive, statewide voter contact and outreach program during the 2016 election cycle. The Organizing Director will manage a team of Field Organizers and oversee paid field programs, including petition collection. This program will be built around a political organizing model (one-on-one meetings, endorsements, trainings and presentations) to build capacity to implement traditional voter contact tactics (canvassing, phones, etc.).


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee volunteer and paid petition collection, including developing tactics to maximize petition gathering, development of volunteer capacity, and monitoring petition verification and program quality control
  • Create systems to track and monitor outreach targets, endorsements, meetings and events
  • Develop relationships and manage deliverables with grassroots partner organizations
  • Hire, train and manage a staff of Field Organizers and other program support roles
  • Manage all field program and targeting data, including field IDs, volunteer management data, event data, modeling, and mail ballot returns
  • Develop and track progress toward daily, weekly and long-term goals
  • Manage all operational aspects of the field program, including securing office space, acquiring cell phones, etc.

Skills and qualifications:

  • Previous personnel management experience
  • Proficient knowledge of VAN and targeting principles
  • Applicants should be prepared to frequently work nights and weekends
  • Access to a vehicle, cell phone and laptop required
