Job Description: Finance Director
The Democratic Senate Campaign Fund (DSCF) is a political organization dedicated to building a Democratic majority in the Colorado State Senate. DSCF is affiliated with and works closely with the Colorado Democratic Party.
DSCF is looking for an experienced Finance Director to run an aggressive fundraising operation to help regain a Democratic majority in 2018. The Finance Director will work closely with senior staff, the senate leadership team, and individual senators to draft and execute a well-rounded fundraising plan. We are open for the position to be either part-time or full-time. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
Primary Job Responsibilities
- Develop and execute an aggressive and multi-faceted fundraising plan for DSCF
- Develop and execute a multi-faceted 2-year finance plan with programs aimed at a variety of categories of donors, including PACs, high–and low-dollar individuals, institutional givers, and online contributors
- Identify, research, and develop new donors to DSCF
- Establish and manage a DSCF Fundraising Committee made up of Senators, donors, and stakeholders
- Plan, schedule, and manage small-and large-scale fundraising events ranging from small house parties to large events with 100+ attendees
- Manage senators' call time for the DSCF, conduct all follow-up donor correspondence and pledges, and oversee thank you program
- Assist senators in building strong relationships with major donors for DSCF
- Write or oversee drafting of direct mail and online/email solicitations
- Assist tier-1 candidates with developing and executing their own successful fundraising plans until additional staff is hired for their campaigns
- Build and manage systems to ensure compliance & administrative efficiency for DSCF
- Ensure all DSCF required reports are filed accurately and on time
- Assist Senators with their own campaign and leadership fund filings, as-needed
- Improve and maintain accurate records in DSCF's fundraising database
- Recruit and manage interns to assist with data entry, donor research, mailing administration, and other fundraising-related tasks
- Proven commitment and track record electing Democrats or working on progressive issues
- Super smart and strategic thinking about fundraising and donor engagement
- Excellent manager, with a demonstrated ability to manage up
- Results-oriented and obsessed with goals, ideally with a proven track record of delivering exceptional results and managing a team to a high bar
- Experience in and knowledge of the political landscape and key people/organizations in Colorado preferred
- Experience being a jack or jill-of-all-trades preferred (i.e. ability and willingness to learn simple graphic design using canva, managing social media, writing email solicitations, etc.)
- Experience with NGP (strongly preferred) or other finance software
- Exemplary time management, planning, and organizational skills
- Willingness to work extended hours, including nights and weekends as needed
