CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER
As we move into 2018 elections and grow our organization, we're seeking a CTO to join our leadership team. Your role will involve helping set our strategic vision when it comes to managing tool implementations, leading volunteer engineers, and directing tech projects. We're looking for someone who has a strong technical background; you might not need to get in the weeds of coding yourself, but you need to be able to understand/read code, write clear specs, and do the tasks of a product manager. But in many cases, if you don't have a volunteer handy or budget, it may be quicker to do the coding yourself.
We're a lean team that's all about hustling and getting our hands dirty to move quickly. We've all touched organizing, politics, and government in different capacities and share a passion for fighting Trump's agenda and helping empower activists and political candidates at the local level.
You don't think of yourself as a primarily technical person and your default is to buy, not build. That means you actually spend time understanding products and looking at the Zapier integrations. You are able to both push forward long-term, complex projects at speed and problem solve when things break. You're great at getting a team on the same page about how to use the tech you've chosen.
Your two main initial projects are 1) polishing a connection between a Google form our volunteers use and a private API for our texting app and 2) implementing a CRM, specifically Salesforce, most likely by managing a consultant and working with our COO to design our business processes.
Rapid Resist is based in Oakland, CA; prefer to be able to commute to the San Francisco/Oakland area once every two weeks.
Skills & Qualifications
5+ years or equivalent experience working in a tech organization
Data management and structuring (CRM and work in Salesforce a plus)
Experience leading engineering teams and volunteers in particular is preferred
Organizing or tech experience on a political or grassroots campaign preferred
Comfort with ambiguity and working in a dynamic and collaborative environment
Experience working in frameworks similar to JavaScript or Node.js, as well as familiarity with AWS
SQL experience required; Python/data science experience preferred
Contract and Compensation
Contract is for around 20-30 hours a week, and begins as soon as possible. Salary may be under market rate for traditional CTO salaries from $3,000 -$4,500. But then again you get to stop fascism from encroaching on America. Apply here.
DIRECTOR OF IMPACT & FUNDRAISING
Rapid Resist is funded by a few dozen major donors and hundreds of small donors. Until now, these relationships have all been managed by the founder. Your job will be to steward these relationships and build new ones with potential key supporters.
You will report to the founder and be a key part of the leadership team driving the direction of the organization. Since your "clients" will be our donors, you will be tasked with directing the rest of the team to gather persuasive metrics that quantify our impact.
You are an obsessive and strategic networker and have a talent for knowing just how to and when to ask for meetings with powerful people. You have experience thinking at high levels about how to measure impact in the political advocacy and electoral space. You are excellent at managing your seniors time and pushing a project forward in a chaotic context.
· Prioritize and manage communications with donors
· Schedule founder meetings with major donors and potential donors
· Help draft meeting materials and pitch decks and coach CEO on pitches
· As needed, pitch donors yourself
· Leverage Rapid Resist's existing network and bring new ideas and contacts
· As needed, manage proposal drafting to foundations or individuals
· Work with COO to ensure impact metrics are gathered
· Work with Finance Director to project revenue
· Work with Finance Director to ensure c3 and c4 donations are managed appropriately
Qualifications
· 4 years of development experience, especially in the political or c4 space
· At least 2 years of major gift development
· Strong existing network of relevant potential donors
· Exceptional interpersonal skill and communications ability
· Demonstrated drive to rebuild progressive infrastructure across the country
· Experience with donor advising or impact consulting or research
· Experience as executive assistance or chief of staff to a founder or CEO
· Ability to work long hours, evenings and weekends
· Experience with donor research databases and Salesforce preferred
Compensation and Contract
This is a one year contract at $60-85,000 with health benefits. Bay Area strongly preferred. Must be able to commute to Bay Area once every two weeks for team meetings. Salary may be re-negotiated after 6 months if fundraising targets are met. Apply here.
SENIOR CAMPAIGN CONSULTANT - RAPID RESULTS LLC
You will manage client relationships with large campaigns fighting to win key races across the country. You'll come with a deep understanding of how field and digital teams work at a variety of levels of campaigns. You'll work with the founder to design proposals for major clients and structure our engagements with them including guiding their campaign strategy and integrating peer texting into their field program. You'll craft peer to peer texting scripts to win campaigns by engaging and activating hundreds of thousands of voters.
Qualifications
· Consulting or significant in-house experience with digital/field at large campaigns
· Experience with peer to peer text operations preferred
· Management experience in campaign or campaign consulting contexts
· Impeccable interpersonal skills
· Consulting, analysis or report-creation experience

As a Campaigner for our partner LLC, you will support campaign clients fighting to win key races across the country. You're excellent at managing fast moving projects and excited to learn about how great campaigns win. You'll be copy-editing scripts, working closely with campaigns and our senior staff, reviewing the work of volunteer texters and ensuring that our texting is integrated with field programs.
Qualifications
· At least one cycle working for a campaign, electoral preferred
· Experience with VAN, Hustle, Salesforce or data management
· Clear and direct communicator
· Excellent organization and detail-oriented
· Consulting, analysis or report-creation experience
· Ability to work long hours, evenings and weekends
