Director of Campaign Advancement and Organizational Sustainability

This position also supports the Center for Community Change Action (CCCA), an affiliated 501(c)(4) advocacy organization. While motivated by the same core values – equity, inclusion, and justice – CCC and CCCA operate independently of one another and each organization has its own board of directors.

Position Description:

The Director of Campaign Advancement and Organizational Sustainability is a senior staff position that will lead the organization's Campaign Advancement Team (CAT), support the implementation of the organization's 15-year business plan, and drive long-term organizational sustainability efforts.

Campaign Advancement Team (CAT)

The Director will provide leadership, coaching, and supervision to a team of senior project management staff of CAT to innovate critical functions and supports to key program teams. The CAT is a team responsible for assisting with dynamic and integral activities that advance key campaign goals. Specific capacities provided by the CAT include: program financial management, travel & convening & logistics support, technology support, grants & contracts management, and security.  Nimble in nature, the team brings together a diverse set of skills and capacities that allow CCC/A to be agile and scale our campaigns.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a strategy to bring core capacities (technology, financial management, technology, security, and convenings) to campaigns.
  • Elevate the engagement experience between campaign staff and campaign advancement staff by cultivating a proactive and results oriented culture in the team.
  • Maintain and invest in the development and care of relationships with campaign staff by participating and supporting various campaign-related events.
  • Serve as a liaison between campaign staff and other senior staff within the organization to promote learning and collaboration between campaign and other staff.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Operations & Finance to inform the preparation of the annual budget.
  • Work closely with the Director of Operations &Finance and campaign leads to research, streamline, and develop strategies or new approaches to support campaign efforts and the management of field resources.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Talent Acquisition & Development and campaign leads to recruit and onboard key hires for campaigns.
  • Manage the procurement processes for all campaign vendors and consultants.
  • Supervise and develop a team of 3-5 staff, nationally.

Implementation of CCC/A 4.0 Plan

The Director will support the implementation of the CCC/A 4.0 15-year plan through direct and indirect means.  Efforts may include engagement with program teams and partners, engagement in data and technology change management, and broader organizational change efforts. Additionally, the position will help staff the Fund for CCC Board of Directors (CCC endowment) and shareowner activism efforts of the endowment.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a member of the CCC/A 4.0 implementation project management team.
  • Promote a culture of feedback, evaluation, and learning throughout multiple program and campaign teams.
  • Assist in driving organizational change efforts with program teams and data & technology change efforts.
  • Coordinate shareowner activism efforts and fund manager engagement for the CCC endowment as part of our private sector engagement strategy.

Organizational Sustainability

The Director will drive some of the organization's long-term sustainability efforts. Efforts will include the strengthening, integrating and/or identifying of new operational systems to maximize efficiency; organizational learning and collaboration efforts; and data & technology innovations across the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage aspects of long-term organizational sustainability efforts, including systems change and organizational learning opportunities.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Chief of Operations & Organizational Sustainability and staff teams on issues of organizational change and sustainability.
  • Promote learning and collaboration on issues of sustainability.
  • Supervise the IT staff.
  • Provide staffing of the Fund for CCC Board of Directors.

The Director of Campaign Advancement and Organizational Sustainability may also manage other projects delegated by the Chief of Operations & Organizational Sustainability. A portion of time will be spent working with CCC's sister organization, the Center for Community Change Action.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10 years experience in program or campaign management.
  • Proven experience in developing and managing a diverse team.
  • Proven experience in budget management.
  • Knowledge of practices in nonprofit organizations, including 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) activity.
  • Proven ability to plan and implement campaign systems and procedures which allow an organization to operate efficiently.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure.
  • Initiative and ability to research, recommend, and implement problem resolution.
  • Ability to work in small and large team environments and with all levels of staff and management.
  • Commitment to the organizations' mission and values.

This position reports to: Chief of Operations & Organizational Sustainability

The Center for Community Change recognizes a staff bargaining unit affiliated with IFPTE Local 70, a union for non-profit workers. This position is not included in the CCC bargaining unit and therefore not covered under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.

Travel Requirements: Light travel is anticipated for this position. Travel to attend trainings and provide on-site support for campaign events.

Salary and Benefits: $110,000 – $120,000 annual salary.  CCC also offers an excellent benefits package, which includes 4 weeks of annual paid vacation; additional paid holiday leave between December 24 and January 1; 8% employer contribution to retirement account after six months of employment (and 3% employer contribution for the first 6 months); and a choice of generous health insurance plans.

This position is located in Washington, DC.
