Field Director
Katie Hill for Congress is seeking ambitious, outgoing, forward thinking candidates for our General Election
Field Director position. The race is in a highly competitive, targeted red-to-blue congressional district in Los
Angeles and Ventura Counties. The Field Director will be responsible for supporting and executing our field
program. We're looking for someone to manage a team of strong, thoughtful, field organizers, in addition to
recruiting and hiring new field organizers and developing our internship program. As the 2018 election
develops into a referendum on the president, this campaign is already one of--if not the most--exciting races in
the country.
Time commitment: Full Time, Start date ASAP, end date November 15th.
Compensation: Salary Commensurate with Experience
Description
The primary responsibility of the Field Director is to work with our staff to execute the field plan to leverage and
expand build the campaign's volunteer infrastructure to meet our voter contact goals through multiple phases
of the general election. You will recruit, hire, train, motivate, and manage a team of field organizers and interns
who will organize their turfs into teams that persuade and turnout voters. You will cultivate a positive, winning
culture and work closely with the Deputy Campaign Manager to develop and execute your plan. You will
analyze your team's performance and implement changes and accountability to maximize results. You will
liaise with local organizations to cultivate and retain volunteers and build strong relationships. You will serve as
a campaign surrogate throughout the district. You will be a leader and a mentor on the campaign, providing
guidance and professional development to junior staff. You must be an excellent recruiter and able to quickly
build a team of volunteers who can self sustain and operate their own field events across the district.
Candidates must have a commitment to progressive change, great work ethic, and professionalism. Good
quantitative analysis skills are key. This position requires travel.
Skills and Qualifications
● Candidate should have strong work ethic, professionalism, interpersonal skills, experience meeting
goals and deadlines, and the ability to manage many tasks simultaneously
● Candidate must be self-motivated and willing to work long hours, including nights and weekends.
● Candidate must have the ability to network and communicate with diverse communities and leaders,
from large audiences to one-on-one
● Candidate will preferably have at least two cycles of organizing experience
● The ideal candidate will have strong quantitative analysis skills and be familiar with database
management, specifically PDI and/or VAN
● Ability to track and analyze performance, troubleshoot and problem solve, and adjust plans and
strategies are necessary
● A good sense of humor and a strong interest in and commitment to politics are must
● Strong connection to the district and Spanish fluency preferred but not mandatory
● Driver's license, vehicle, and cell phone are required
● Spanish speaking preferred
