About the DCCC: 

The DCCC is the official national Democratic campaign committee charged with electing Democrats to the U. S. House of Representatives. The DCCC recruits Democratic candidates and supports Democratic campaigns – both challengers and Democratic incumbent Members – with a variety of services including field operations, fundraising support, communications assistance, research support and management consulting. In addition, the DCCC's Independent Expenditure supports these campaigns with television, radio and other voter contact efforts. The DCCC is supported by the contributions of individuals and organizations, along with Democratic Members, from throughout the country. We look for talented and hard-working campaign professionals who are committed to electing more Democrats and defending our Democratic House majority.


Position Summary: 

The DCCC is growing its creative team! We're looking for a graphic designer with an intuitive understanding of political messaging and the technical chops to help create effective, communicative graphics for web and print. This person will report to the Art Director and will be responsible for helping pitch, create, and edit a variety of visual products for audiences inside and outside the committee. This is not a traditional 9-5 role. Evening and weekend work will be expected from time to time.


Responsibilities Include:

  • Work with the Creative Team to create effective graphics for email, social media, digital ads, and our website.
  • Take the lead on cranking out our email and text message graphics, often with same-day turnaround.
  • Design print collateral like bumper stickers, event invitations, field literature, and flyers.
  • Work within guidelines to carry out and develop the DCCC's brand through visual design.
  • Help champion the DCCC brand by providing design guidance to staff for various departmental products (e.g., Word documents, PDF forms, event signage).
  • Seek out and seize on opportunities to use your unique skills as a visual designer to help the committee communicate, function, and achieve its goals.
  • Other design projects for the committee as assigned.

Requirements


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign skills.
  • Familiarity with designing for a variety of web and print platforms and an understanding of how to optimize your designs to succeed on each.
  • Some knowledge of advanced design features in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Publisher is desirable.
  • Ability to work quickly and flexibly.
  • Think through graphic design strategically.
  • Strong copy writing and editing/proofreading skills.
  • Knowledge of HTML/CSS, especially HTML5, is a plus.
  • A strong interest in Democratic political issues and a commitment to helping elect Democrats in the House
