COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR
The Pennsylvania Democratic Party is seeking to hire for the position of Communications Director to begin immediately. The Communications Director for the Pennsylvania Democratic Party works with the Executive Director and the Digital Director to drive earned media coverage and communicate the party's message. This position is based in Philadelphia and compensation is commensurate with the applicant's experience.

OVERVIEW:
Internal Communications
Write short- and long‐term communications plans.
Write talking points for events and stakeholders as needed.
Develop messaging around issues for staff, stakeholders and allies.
Work with staff to manage difficult communications situations including crisis communications.
Organize and maintain press lists.
External Communications
Draft media materials, including press releases, talking points, emails, and statements.
Develop pitch ideas and pitch stories to reporters in Pennsylvania and nationally.
Assist in setting up public events and interviews featuring the Chair, elected officials, and surrogates including contact TV, radio, and print reporters.
Plan and oversee press events ranging from press conferences to press calls.
Work with reporters to manage the image of the Pennsylvania Democratic Party.
Work with campaigns to coordinate press and communications strategy and assist as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with communicating with the press; on-the-record experience preferred
Previous experience in a campaign environment is a plus
Strong research and writing skills
Initiative to work independently and follow through on all projects
Interest in and awareness of current national and state political and policy issues
Proficiency with social media platforms
Ability to work well under pressure and on deadline
Passion for campaigning and politics and a drive to help elect Democratic candidates
