2020 Primary Job in Chicagoland: Hispanic Organizer

Hispanic Organizer, Chicagoland Congressional Campaign

A Chicagoland Congressional Primary campaign is currently seeking applications for the Hispanic Organizer position. The Hispanic Organizer will develop and leverage relationships in order to directly support voter contact programs that perform targeted outreach to the Hispanic community across the district. Exceptional candidates have previous experience in campaign, union, or constituency group organizing, and have ideally managed paid or volunteer door to door canvassing operations.  Pay is competitive and based on experience.

The Hispanic Organizer must be a self-starter, team builder, and must care deeply about the future success of progressive politics in Illinois. The Hispanic Organizer will report directly to the Organizing Director.

The position is full-time and cycle only, through March 2020.

Core Responsibilities:

Be an ambassador of the Democratic primary campaign across the district.

Develop relationships with key local community and political leaders

Recruit, train, and empower volunteers to become leaders and create local teams for voter contact activities

Assist with organizing and advancing campaign events.

Additional duties as assigned by the Organizing Director.

 

Additional Responsibilities:

Set up or participate in regular calls/meetings with district's Hispanic leaders

Build a list of district-wide Hispanic leaders that can be engaged to support the campaign's organizing plan

Work with Organizing Director to set up regular voter contact events

Collaborate with the GOTV Director (to whom the Organizing Director reports) to give Hispanic specific input on field and GOTV plan.

Strong interpersonal skills

Highly organized and committed to details

Ability to juggle multiple tasks and deadlines at once

Team building and motivating team members

Experience with VAN

Fluency in Spanish is strongly preferred

Reliable transportation

A reliable laptop

A reliable cell phone

Preferred Experience:

Experience managing staff and volunteers

Experience working in diverse communities

Experience working with community leaders
