[jobsthatareLEFT by GAIN] Training Bureau, EMILY's List, Remote (Contract Positions)

EMILY's List, the nation's largest resource for women in politics, is searching for several Contract Trainers to join our Trainers Bureau within the Training and Community Engagement Team.

EMILY's List has raised over $600 million to elect pro-choice Democratic women candidates. With a grassroots community of over five million members, EMILY's List helps Democratic women win competitive campaigns – across the country and up and down the ballot – by recruiting and training candidates, supporting strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect 150 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 16 governors, and nearly 1,100 women to state and local office. Nearly 40 percent of the candidates EMILY's List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. During the historic 2017-2018 cycle, EMILY's List raised a record-breaking $110 million and launched a record independent expenditure campaign. We helped elect 34 new women to the House, including 24 red-to-blue victories; enough seats to have delivered the U.S. House majority alone.

Since the 2016 election, more than 50,000 women have reached out to EMILY's List about running for office laying the groundwork for the next decade of candidates for local, state and national offices. To meet this need, the Training and Community Engagement team is engaged in the work of continuous trainings across the country.

Principal Responsibilities

Working with the Training Director, members of the Trainers Bureau are responsible for being the lead trainer at EMILY's List's in-person introductory trainings. Trainers will help expand the impact of EMILY's List by providing high-quality trainings based on their firsthand experience helping to create and executive successful campaigns. They will work with the Training Director to sharpen their training and facilitation skills and provide consistent feedback to the Director regarding content. Additionally, they will play an external facing role as a representative of EMILY's List.  The goals of the training are to solidify the potential candidates' decision to run; help them understand how to get their house in order before announcing a run; help them prepare to take their first few steps to running, including how to tell their personal story, pull a coalition together, build their brand, and raise money early.

Trainers will receive a stipend of $1,000 per training. Travel and accommodations to and from the training will be covered by EMILY's List in addition to the stipend. Ahead of the training, the EMILY's List team will take care of the training logistics including finding and securing the venue, ordering catering, confirming guest speakers, building the attendee list, and finalizing day-of partners to support the recruitment of the attendees.

Before your first training, you must complete a dry run with our Training Director and receive one-on-one support to ensure you're ready to train with our curriculum. The Training Director will also provide you feedback on your facilitation, with an eye toward continuous improvement of training abilities and continuous improvement of the content itself.
