Director of Development – Planned Giving – Democratic Attorneys General Association

Position Summary
The Democratic Attorneys General Association (DAGA) seeks to hire a Director of Development – Planned Giving to support the National Finance Director in creating, managing and growing the planned giving department of DAGA. The Director of Development – Planned Giving will be responsible for advancing a robust portfolio of fundraising partnerships with private foundations and family offices. This writing-intensive role involves stewarding and cultivating our institutional donors, ensuring the timely development, submission, and management of grant proposals, and applying best practices for tracking, acknowledgement, and reporting. We are looking for an accomplished grants writer with a proven record of developing winning proposals and compelling reports.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create and manage the fundraising program for planned giving to include:
- Creating and implementing fundraising plan
- Developing prospective donor pipeline
- Managing relationships with existing and potential donors
- Writing and managing grants for the organization
- Monitoring progress of granted funds for programs
- Provide and manage fundraising projections and reports
- Successfully represent DAGA in public meetings with current and potential donors
- May need to work evenings and weekends
Required Skills:
- Ability to clearly and effectively communicate, particularly in the development of proposals to donors within the planned giving community
- Commitment to a broader understanding of educating the public on the work of Attorneys General
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Strong leadership skills
- Proven ability to perform well under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines and objectives
- Flexibility to adjust to changing priorities and operate effectively in a fluid and fast-paced environment
- Project management skills that enable the juggling of multiple tasks, allocating and optimizing resources, and managing timelines
- Sense of humor and positive attitude
- Commitment to DAGA's mission
Required Experience
- 7+ years of development experience
- Managed the development of at least five successful grant proposals in the past 12 months.
- Experience working in development for a 501 c(3), 501 c(4) or experience in a grant generating office preferred
- Donor relationship management and strong knowledge of stakeholders and funders
- Bachelor's degree required
