Salary: $600 a month, 10 hours per week
Position: Voter Protection Legal Fellowship
The Iowa Democratic Party seeks law students or recent law school graduates for a Voter Protection Legal Fellowship during the November general election cycle. This is a unique opportunity to gain real life experience in Democratic politics during an exciting election year. The Voter Protection Legal Fellowship is a paid part-time internship and a great opportunity for someone who enjoys political, election, and civil rights law courses and is passionate about electing and supporting Democrats at all levels. Fellows will gain experience with voting laws affecting Iowans through the Voter Protection Program and develop valuable skills and political insight necessary to help launch a career in government, politics, civil rights, or campaigns. This position reports to a Deputy Voter Protection Director.
Responsibilities include:
Research state election law and policy
Work on updating voter protection related materials
Assist voters calling into the Iowa Voter Hotline
Recruit volunteers for the Voter Protection Program, including recruit lawyers and your fellow law students to serve as Voter Protection Volunteers
Help prepare for Election Day and Post-Election
Qualifications
Ideal candidates are law students or recent law school graduates with a passion and desire to get involved with politics
Candidates must have great attention to detail, excellent oral and written communication, discretion, and strong research skills.
