About the role:
Purpose is looking for a Senior Director of the Education Lab, with a commitment to join the leadership team of Purpose Labs. The person in this role will lead the recently launched Education Lab, and work closely with the Executive team, Impact Measurement & Learning team, the Partnerships team and other directors to proactively grow this new venture.
The right candidate will lead the Education Lab, along with our funding partner, to support and manage a cross functional team of campaigners, creatives and strategists, managing high level relationships with funders and partners. Candidates should have a world-class track record of making change, as well as excellent strategy, management, and networking capabilities. They should have experience in running campaigns, managing diverse, highly skilled and multi-disciplinary teams, and overseeing a portfolio of several large projects running in parallel.
Management and leadership experience in a relevant campaigns, strategy, communications, or public affairs organization is essential. A passion for and experience in poverty alleviation or related issues is essential. Other capabilities of interest include digital campaigning, strategic communications, policy and political strategy, social marketing, consumer engagement, product development, or community organizing.
Candidates should be highly entrepreneurial, agile and innovative, able to spot breakout opportunities, and to lead on executing high-impact partnerships and projects. They should also be willing to travel when needed (post-pandemic).
We are looking for candidates based in South America (Colombia, Mexico and Brazil) or Europe (Denmark, Sweden and UK), but will consider strong candidates from the US or elsewhere.
Responsibilities
As Lead on the Education Lab:
- Serve as project lead, managing relationships with funders and other core partners
- Design and implement a strategic phase that includes the development of a robust ecosystem map to better understand the sector at large, and to inform the development of a testing and experimentation plan, and a robust learning and training program.
- Integrate into the partner outreach process and identify engagement opportunities for campaign collaboration as well as new initiatives that align with the campaigns framework
- Execute on a monitoring and evaluation system that tracks KPIs and connects campaign outputs to real world impact
- Build and foster relationships with key players in the sector, including potential partners and allies
As a member of the Labs Leadership team:
- Proactively seek out new clients and partners and actively engage in the creation of new movements
- As the project principal, be responsible for developing and overseeing projects
- Lead project teams of assigned directors, senior strategists, strategists, creatives and technologists
- Be the lead Purpose representative with senior clients, partners and stakeholders
- Set and maintain the highest standards for deliverables, both internal and external
- Collaborate regularly with the Strategy, Campaigns, Project Management, and Creative teams
- Serve as a leader, both internally and externally, in your area(s) of expertise
- Research and stay abreast of best practices in digital organizing and campaigns, digital marketing & communications, purpose-driven brand strategy, corporate social impact work, and other key areas of expertise
Qualifications:
- ~10+ years of progressive experience at a top-tier strategy consultancy or agency, or leading social impact initiatives on the client side.
- Demonstrated track record in digital organizing and campaigns, digital marketing & communications, and/or purpose-driven brand strategy
- Strong entrepreneurial sensibility - you've had success in launching new projects or initiatives that employ new, innovative models to drive social impact
- Experienced and adept manager of very smart, multidisciplinary teams
- Sophisticated interpersonal and mature client management skills
- Experience as a professional development manager to 4 or more people simultaneously
- Strong "book" of senior-level contacts at foundations, NGOs, and brands
- Able to combine high-level strategy and analytical thinking with tactical creativity and flair
- Experience in a start-up, growth business or dynamic non-profit operating environment
- Confident and sophisticated communicator, presenter and writer - you are a frequent speaker at events and conferences; trusted advisor to senior level executives in your area(s) of expertise
